it took me two weeks after losing my first thread contest to win the first contest i ever won. the prize was $50. it was for a meme project, a storytelling contest. the dev hosted a space to announce the winners and said something that stayed with me, in his words: “i felt the reality of what ajah wrote.” he went on to read my entire thread live on the space. at that moment, i felt excited and overwhelmed. the idea that my writing could be recognized like that in a space with over a hundred listeners meant a lot to me. it made me realize that, my account having just 300+ followers back then didn’t really matter. over the years, thread contests have taught me a lot. i’ve met amazing projects and incredible participants. many of those connections became real relationships, and honestly, i’ve loved every part of that journey. the joy i feel each time i open my notepad and pen to research a project is something i hold in very high esteem. doing what you love should always be the core essence of being a creator. of course, the journey wasn’t always wins. there were many times i believed my work deserved to win but didn’t. i’ve spent my own money testing products so i could speak about them from real experience before sharing them with my audience. sometimes i won, other times i didn’t. there were moments when people copied my work, refined it, and used it to win contests. there were also moments when i collaborated with other creators and we won together in amazing ways. each phase taught me something valuable about creativity, and how to truly connect with an audience. i’ve also had the privilege of teaching others. many of them later went on to win thousands of dollars from thread contests themselves. that alone brings me a lot of fulfillment. this account has won over $3k from thread writing, from @SuperteamEarn and @scribble_dao platforms, and several other projects i’ve written and spoken about. but lately, i feel it’s time to hang the pen and step back a little. instead of competing, i want to extend my hand to support other content writers. if support is not extended to others, then the true purpose of being a creator is defeated. so starting from this month march, i will no longer participate in thread contests. however, behind the scenes, i will remain open to reviewing, proofreading, and evaluating threads for anyone who wants to join or participate in contests as well as every form of writing. it has been a long ride and i want to sincerely appreciate superteam and scribbledao. even though i lost many contests along the way, the opportunity to use my skills to highlight amazing projects has been an amazing experience. and to every project i’ve ever won with, even though i can’t start naming all of them now. i truly appreciate the opportunity to create, learn, and grow through them. the journey continues, just in a different way.
