First, we drive them out of their homes. Then our government continues to neglect them. Their languages are endangered, some already considered extinct due to a lot of factors, but majorly because of displacement. And now this. When will the abuse of our indigenous people end?

A portion of the Aeta community's ancestral land in Subic, Zambales was converted into a dumpsite in 2019, impacting livelihoods and the environment. The Subic LGU responsible for the project said it was unaware that the area was inhabited. 🎥: i-Witness

We need to be precise in determining the causes of flooding. It is not the hazard -e.g. continuous rainfall of habagat- per se. But things like poor land use planning and drainage maintenance - governance - the trigger the harms making up both rapid and slow onset disasters.

maybe it's time we ask why tourism and foreign capital have become our default development model. habang hindi pinatitibay ang sariling industriya at soberanya, patuloy na nalalantad sa dayuhang interes ang ating lupa, likas-yaman, at kinabukasan.
