With so many myths perpetuated about disability benefits in the press, it might be a good idea to politely inform your local MP of the facts. This website makes it easy. writetothem.com

Lots of talk about how benefits should stop for those "refusing work"-as if the unemployed are being inundated with job offers all the time that they decline. You can tell who hasn't interacted with the jobs market in decades or got handed their position through connections.

ed davey served in the coalition that brought in austerity and hostile environment and was one of the key authors of the orange book, which took lib dem’s from a party of conscience to one that swapped cuts to welfare for carrier bag charges, why would anyone take him seriously?

@Helen_Whately @Conservatives Tell us, how does 1.8million unemployed, fit into 700k jobs. If every single vacancy is filled, what do you do with the other 1.1m ? That's before you throw in sick/disabled. Talking of unlimited welfare, how much in rent did you claim again?

@WelshLabour The Labour chapter is finally over though. What a slog that was to read.

As the only vaguely left wing main party, most attacks on the Greens are basically futile as they have no competition. Prim, disapproving scolding from Peter's best mate on Sky News and Steve Reed screaming at Polanski in the Mail unlikely to move the dial much.

All research, past evidence and predictions agree that cutting disability benefits will likely only lead to 1-3% at best moving into work. Yet 100% of the establishment class act as if it is the magical solution...even though their own figures say otherwise. 😵‍💫

Indeed. Taking money away from this tiny number of severely disabled people will achieve absolutely nothing. They will just end up sicker, homeless, moving into expensive care homes or dead. But as long as it titilates the Telegraph...

@Helen_Whately Very few people get that amount, Helen. You know this. To get that amount you would have to be severely disabled and live in a high rent area. You're the one fleecing the system for everything you can get.

Peter is a multi-millionaire and claims he can’t afford to pay his staff properly. He depends on UC to boost his staff’s pay to a livable level, while keeping his profits. Taxpayers subsidise businesses like his so they can keep paying starvation wages.

Time for a benefit cap on MPs expenses. It's unfair, doesn't reward work and we can't afford it. Of course we must protect those MPs who really need a second home and free paperclips, but a cap is necessary to maintain public support of the expenses system.
