Segundo o relato da vítima, toda a ação durou cerca de uma hora. Durante o período, os criminosos teriam mencionado diversas vezes o nome “Robinho”, o que agora pode ser uma das pistas investigadas. Após o transbordo da mercadoria, avaliada em 410 mil reais, o motorista foi liberado, mas ainda foi seguido por um trecho do percurso, possivelmente para evitar que procurasse ajuda imediatamente. Sem conhecer bem a região, ele conseguiu chegar até a Linha Amarela, onde pediu orientação. O caso foi registrado inicialmente na 21ª Delegacia de Polícia e, devido ao alto valor da carga, encaminhado para a Delegacia de Roubos e Furtos de Cargas, que assumiu as investigações. De acordo com a ocorrência, o caminhão não possuía rastreador, câmeras de segurança ou botão de pânico. A carga também não tinha seguro nem sistema de monitoramento. Um detalhe que chamou a atenção do motorista é que um dos bandidos utilizava tornozeleira eletrônica. A empresa responsável pela carga roubada agora oferece R$ 50 mil de recompensa por informações que levem à recuperação dos produtos ou à identificação dos criminosos. O destino final era Palmas no Tocantins.
