@Leesplez From my lay perspective, model 2 looks exactly right. Model 1 would be the Fall back, if model 2 won’t converge.

Since "Time" is really just the main effect across all interventions (there's no control), that should be modeled as random slopes like Model 2, correct? I don't know why but I can't shake the feeling I'm missing something. Any help is appreciated!

I need an #rstats sanity check for a #psychology study I'm running...just need to make sure I'm specifying the mixed-effects model correctly All input is welcome, will explain in the next tweet...

@Jaylene_Patt @ECAllen I think today, pre-printing is a really good way of showing your work, while waiting on journals.

@JkayFlake @PeerCommunityIn For me neither, so far, they are actually much faster. But I think people still think of them as slow and hence the path needs more accountability on the journal side to provide clarity/safety. Especially for PhD projects.

@leopold_roth @PeerCommunityIn I'm not convinced RRs take longer than a regular paper, but def seeing you could end up in a situation where you are a good way into the process and just have to walk because the project has a deadline.

Reg Reports editors, how would you handle an RR that was in revision (pre IPA), but needed to be completed for a time sensitive project? Should the authors be able to resubmit the done project to the same journal as NOT an RR? Pack up and go somewhere else? How does this work?

@JkayFlake Yes, so far this seems to be one of the major hold-ups for people against RRs and with the scheduled review @PeerCommunityIn this worked for me quite good. But I also think not every journal has expertise and people to do it well.

@leopold_roth So you think the RR format should be able to get through the review process faster, just in general? Like 2-4 months to first decision (my estimate of business as usual) shouldn't be how RRs work?

@JkayFlake I would idealistically say that journals which need this long are not fit to offer Registered Reports. If they can not manage this within weeks, the format is not for them.

sorry if my question isn't clear, say it is 3-6 months to get another revision with hopes of an IPA, but the authors know they need to have results before then. What do you do? reject the paper and they just move on? Change the format? Curious on process for this situation.

We wrote a short paper about our lessons learned doing registered reports. Check if out if you are interested to learn more about RRs and/or are considering getting started with RRs!
APA Journals@APA_Journals

A #RegisteredReport is a type of journal article in which the intro, methods, and analysis plan are proposed and peer-reviewed prior to execution—aiming to limit publication bias of significant results. Learn how to prepare your own: bit.ly/4gCpXRD @CPA_SCP @debra_titone

10) last, we would like to thank @giladfeldman who took his time to sit down with me and click through the @PeerCommunityIn homepage and explained the process of getting an Registered Report running with a lot of patience.
