yesterday, as a foot passenger to Victoria, i was in for a surprise treat. the Fulford Harbour ferry terminal waiting room was packed with kids from Fulford elementary going on a field trip for swimming and skating. within the delightfull (if loud) gaggle of kids, one of them said, are you Raffi?, and that brought on a whole bunch of smiles and high fives. the news spread, and i heard a bunch of "you're awsome" comments and such. how sweet that these nine and ten year olds would be excited to see me and weren't too cool to show it. on board the ferry, a teacher came over with a wonderful 10 year old, James, who wanted to meet me. loved chatting with him, told him about my coming to Canada at his age, learning English by watching Saturday night hockey games on tv. his face glowed as we had this unhurried exchange, and mine did too. such a warm feeling of community. #spaciousheart #belugagrads

I’d like to take a moment to recognize a show that didn’t get its flowers tonight. Reservation Dogs broke the mold of what a YA show can be. I hope its legacy, beyond Native American representation, is more YA shows & films. Not less. I will miss this show greatly. A’ho.
