Out of curiosity, which country? I know some places have electricity price caps, which often means they charge the max.
When we lived in Texas, we had competition and could choose from dozens of providers (one company owns the power lines and charges providers for access). I used a service called Energy Ogre that finds the cheapest price for you every year and automatically switches you to that provider. We usually paid about 12.5 cents per kwh. There is only one provider where we live in Arkansas and we pay less, a little less than 12 cents per kwh.
