@Sherkel_64 Yes, there's lots to be said about it, and a lot is said. I see it as a desperate attempt to escape the fate we're creating for ourselves. Realizing that nothing we do, or have ever done, will provide humanity with a legacy can generate a sense of meaninglessness in our lives.

@Sherkel_64 Humans will survive collapse of global financial systems & civilization, but not collapse of Earth's biosphere. As Lyle Lewis writes in Racing to Extinction, when our ancestors evolved ability to throw accurately, the Sixth Extinction began. Mega fauna was hunted to extinction.

@lesuknight When I think of how a mass extinction event would actually play out, I still get worried...it's a tough thing to reconcile. Of course, those weapons would harm others far more than humans too.

@Sherkel_64 Fears of human extinction bc of AI are rampant, but I don't see how that would play out. Global capitalism is bound to collapse soon, and that will reduce births more than growth in tech. With madmen in control of nuclear weapons, the end of the world has never been closer.

@Sherkel_64 Economic considerations factor heavily in procreation decisions, when people have a choice. Specifically, perceptions of future income. Today, young people chose to avoid procreation because they can barely afford to maintain their own lives. Our bleak future is the clincher.

@Sallubju @SHK_Movement You're not alone, most people don't realize it's racism and eugenics for a couple to insist that the human they raise perpetuates their racial make up and genetic material. Neither helps us personally survive, just helps our genetic subgroup survive.
