Overmused Author@Jocelynbeard
Block me, Leona.
My work requires a crap ton of research that would require me to live in the basement of a university library to be able to attempt to conduct by hand.
I rely on a LOT of books that aren't in print/available in the US (folklore, mostly), as well as obscure - VERY hard to find blogs - and NAMES of people that I actually have to call and ask if they'd be generous and spend some time with me sharing a bit of their knowledge.
Running google searches on material of this nature loads you up with 1-3 useful sources and a crap-ton of garbage. AI has streamlined this process for me, which allows me more time to write.
I'm fully aware of the environmental impact threatened by AI. I've read MIT's report about 10-15 times.
I'm very outspoken (on this platform and in my life) about being anti-AGI, anti-transhumanism, anti-accelerationism, anti-singularity, anti-post-human, anti-utopian et-freaking-cetera and am SICKENED by the theft of Miyazaki's art. Every time I see someone with a Miyazaki-style profile pic I want to reach right through the ether and smack them upside the head.
2 of my books were stolen by Meta for "training" and have now been declared to have provided no value to the AI training process. That makes me want to slap a bitch, too.
But yeah, I use AI to do the heavy lifting in research as it can provide me with sources tailored exactly to what I'm searching for in seconds. I'm not ashamed, I'm not embarrassed, and I REALLY want you to block me.
Oh, btdubbs, if you think your agent isn't going to be using AI in some capacity (if they're not already) well, I'm not going to be the one to break it to you.
Finally, your choice to isolate biotech, medicine & engineering for your "approved" venues of AI users is random and slightly scary, especially medicine and freaking biotech.
Time to hit the Block Button. I really want that screenshot, thanks.
