PM Carney has completed his dismantling of Canada’s climate framework by gutting one of Canada’s last major climate tools. Today’s deal confirms that the MOU was never intended to be a grand bargain. It's capitulation dressed up as compromise environmentaldefence.ca/2026/05/15/the…

While the rest of the world is running towards renewable energy (renewables met basically all of demand growth in 2025), PM Carney leaving Canada further behind by doubling down on expensive & polluting gas

One of the only concrete things in the discussion paper is the plan to further gut clean electricity rules, by moving the timeline from 2035 to 2050. This isn’t a good news story. It’s another backstep on climate.

PM Carney's electricity strategy isn't a strategy -- and releasing it today is a cynical attempt to distract attention from his latest assault on climate and environmental protections environmentaldefence.ca/2026/05/14/sta…

What can we take from this? Did PM Carney get played, is he a terrible negotiator, or was he looking for an excuse to dismantle Canada's climate progress without paying a political price? Bottom line: PM Carney is making Canada a more toxic, economically vulnerable place

TMX corp knows the private sector won't buy their pipeline, they're now pretending it's strategic to keep it govt owned, as a "sovereign" pipeline. Let that be a warning for anyone who still thinks the private sector will build a brand new pipeline. thestar.com/business/trans…

So the Major Projects Office has a number of staff that are on loan from the private sector, including banks, AND whose salaries are actively being topped up by those companies Can you say conflict of interest any more clearly? sasknow.com/2026/05/07/thr…

- granting any project the government chooses a blank cheque to drive entire species to extinction - moving much of project-decision making behind closed doors If a project destroys waters, lands and puts animals at risk -- should it go ahead? How is that nation building?

Here are some highlights: - the creation of Federal Economic Zones where projects, like pipelines, would be automatically pre-approved without any review (and would be exempt from all federal laws)

🔥🔥MP @s_guilbeault lays out what the fed-AB MOU puts at risk "Compromises on industrial carbon pricing, clean electricity & methane regs undermine Canada’s climate commitments, risk irreversible damage to human health, the environment & trust of Indigenous communities"

Last November, Prime Minister Carney signed a memorandum of understanding with Alberta Premier Danielle Smith. Getting this agreement right is an economic, social and moral imperative.  Read my letter in the Toronto Star
