Following on th piracy discourse, let's not forget that for Marvel and DC the only sales that matter are the preorders.
You could buy digitally or buy trades and for them it's like you didn't buy anything, how am I supposed to support my favorite books then if I don't preorder?

It is a lie sold to you that pirated-reading is draining wealth from creators.
There are more instances of fully employed artists / writers ending careers with nothing to show for it. Your work being read online is a much smaller problem than predatory publishing practices.

Losing ReadComicOnline wasn't fighting piracy. That was burning down a monument. There's so many comics that are just gone now. Things that never got a reprint, old stories no one cares to preserve. Reminds me of how many silent films are gone forever.

what beats piracy, as demonstrated 15 years ago, is making legal consumption easy, cheap, and safe. Netflix and Prime was killing piracy
then they split up content and jacked up prices and it's back

You know what would cut down on piracy? Making books widely accessible globally & reducing the cost. Taking down piracy sites will only increase traffic towards other sites.

It’s so astonishing there are genuinely people against comic piracy when these sites are basically the most comprehensive archives of these works that exist
Without them, so many books would become lost.
