This likely is an unpopular opinion, and I do really like Yakemchuk, but after seeing guys like Thomson, Gilbert and Crotty emerge as some really steady depth defensemen, I think I’d be okay with parting with him in a package for a scoring winger.
Our D-core is set once you get Spence signed this summer anyway…. I don’t see where Yakemchuk will fit in the immediate future.

Also btw the Hall and McDavid thing is a myth. they barely got to play together and their results in those small minutes were superb. they would have been an excellent combo

you always hear "playing with superstars like Crosby and McDavid is soooo difficult... hundreds have tried .. hundreds have failed..." but like idk i've seen a lot of players look good next to crosby and mcdavid. as long as you're not a total moron you can figure it out

@GraemeNichols Fair. I would argue there's not enough attention paid to all the 2nd, 3rd, 4ths, etc. wasted to acquire and later sell "veteran" players like Stepan and Namestikov. In addition to plus value role-players (Paul, Demelo) being sold for below market value.

Breaking this down in slow-mo cause it’s pretty phenomenal.
-Celebrini NEVER looks at the net, eyes on Eklund the ENTIRE time.
-Goalies (understandably) view this as shot deception.
-He loads up, stick blade facing the net.
-His dominant foot & stick blade open up towards Eklund in a split sec as Kuemper slightly flinches.
-Game over #SJSharks win.

It might be time to have a serious conversation about the Sens amateur scouting staff. They have hit on maybe one pick since the end of the 2020 draft.
If Yakemchuk / Hensler don't pan out... big ooof. Especially since, as of now, they're missing this year's 1st rounder.
This team used to be known for great drafting, especially in deeper rounds. WTF happened?
