@pascaliito He’s the avatar not the supreme leader of the world. Aang’s legacy was one of progress but progress is many-sided and conflict is endemic. The Avatar’s job is not to usher in a utopia but to guide the world in times of distress toward peace.

After Avatar Aang ended the 100 years war due to Roku negligence, he created Republic City so all nations could live together, but here is what he didn’t realize, His good intentions became a problem for Korra: — The rise of inequality in Republic City Aang helped create Republic City so all nations could live together peacefully. But over time, non-benders began feeling oppressed by powerful benders, gangs, and political elites. That imbalance eventually fueled Amon and the Equalist movement in Book 1. —The bloodbending crisis Aang spared Yakone instead of fully eliminating the threat. Yakone later raised his sons, Amon and Tarrlok, in abuse and revenge, creating one of Korra’s biggest enemies. —An overly centralized world order After the Hundred Year War, Aang’s era focused heavily on stability and peace through institutions like Republic City and international cooperation. But that system became rigid and politically weak. By Korra’s time, corruption, class divides, and power struggles had built up beneath the surface. —The Southern Water Tribe’s dependence During Aang’s lifetime, the South became more connected to the modern world and somewhat dependent on Northern support and influence. That tension later exploded in the civil conflict manipulated by Unalaq. —The spiritual disconnect of the modern age Even though Aang deeply respected spirituality, the world became increasingly industrialized after his era. By Korra’s time, many people were disconnected from spirits and tradition, contributing to the chaos surrounding the Spirit World in Book 2. —The imbalance caused by removing the Fire Nation threat Aang succeeded in ending Fire Lord Ozai’s tyranny, but peace created a new kind of problem: rapid technological growth, nationalism, and ideological extremism. Instead of one obvious evil empire, Korra faced many smaller, more complex threats: -Equality extremism (Amon) -Spiritual extremism (Unalaq) -Anarchism (Zaheer) -Authoritarian nationalism (Kuvira) That’s part of the theme of the Avatar cycle: Each Avatar fixes the crisis of their own age, but the solution changes the world in ways the next Avatar has to deal with. END 📌

Avatar Kyoshi was the next in line after Avatar Kuruk Kyoshi ruled for over 200 years, which created long-term stability after defeating chin the conqueror but also allowed certain political systems to become rigid and corrupt. She used fear and overwhelming force to maintain order. That kept peace during her lifetime, but some nations learned to obey power rather than develop true balance. The isolationist policies (focusing on protecting your own land and people) she encouraged in some regions contributed to separation between nations. Most importantly, she failed to fully eliminate the ambitions and ideology of Chin the Conqueror-style expansionism and authoritarian rule. By Roku's era, the Fire Nation had become extremely powerful, Roku inherited a world that looked peaceful on the surface, while dangerous ambitions were quietly growing underneath. Eventually leading to Fire Lord Sozin beginning the Hundred Year War after Roku's death. Kyoshi also created the Dai Li to protect cultural heritage in Ba Sing Se. In the long run, that became one of the most corrupt and manipulative organizations in the franchise, causing major problems for both Roku's and Aang's eras.

Random Avatar Korra fact: Did you know Korra was the only Avatar to ever fight a man who could kill a spirit? Normally spirits cannot be killed they can only be trapped. Yet Unalaq mastered dark water bending to the point where he destroyed Raava herself He ended the entire Avatar cycle in one move and Korra still got up and defeated him after all of that. Tell me again why she is not the greatest Avatar???

@vin1cius_r Kya is an excellent water bender. Ming Hua is clearly a prodigy though. Kya wasn’t useless she helped keep Jinora alive with healing in S2 and resurrected the group from near death in that finale lol. she doesn’t needs to be as formidable a fighter as Ming Hua just bc Katara is

@Daykerpriest Unalaq and Katara presumably taught Eska, Desna and Kya respectively, all of whom were light work for Ming Hua. I imagine she could give both Katara and Unalaq a difficult time.

One of my biggest disappointments with legend of korra was how weak they made an experienced former revolutionary fire lord Zuko be in season 3. Even in his old age he should be using wisdom and battle strategy to gauge his opponent; instead folded quicker than a toilet paper🤦🏻‍♂️..

Amon uses Bloodbending to physically block the chi paths that a bender is currently using. Because Korra had never successfully airbent before that moment, her airbending chi path was dormant and "hidden" from Amon’s technique.

@Ya_Gurl_Ry @e_fosa08 Says who? In LoK’s first ep the white lotus say that they investigated claims in the South and North? Why visit both? Also Korra’s dad was from the North but banished. Korra is technically of a royal bloodline, as Yue was coincidentally, but idk how northern chiefs are appointed

@e_fosa08 No. The next avatar was ALWAYS going to be Korra, since the cycle alternates between north and south poles. Korra was from the south. The was from the north.

Hot take : What if Princess Yue was supposed to be the next Avatar…but Aang being frozen for 100 years disrupted that cycle, leaving her spiritually empty at birth?

@Alhaji_dubaa @enigmaofall Who exactly did Iroh boss around? His most powerful showing was during Sozin’s comet and as you can see Zuko is in a tundra at night where his firebending would be at his weakest. He also never showed the same ability level as Iroh.

When Aang gets earthbending in a day. Cool When Katara gets bloodbending in a day. Cool When Toph gets metalbender in a day. Cool But when Korra struggles with airbending for 17 fucking years and gets it following the principles of freedom. She's a Mary Sue.
namnas@naMnaSYt

this is where I see the mary sue complaint now whole season she was getting washed but suddenly she can airbend after having her bending taken away and can negate Amon's bloodbending with no waterbending but Aang couldnt negate Yakone, who was significantly weaker than Amon

@AlexiconPrime @DaddyTonraq The bison themselves are the original airbenders. As badgermoles are the original earthbenders. And dragons the firebenders. These creatures possessed bending before humans and so taught them. Wan is in a spirit forest doing the dragon dance. LOK didn’t overwrite it filled in

@DaddyTonraq The first airbenders had bison to learn from? Thats where they learned airbending. Its literally in the show. Not only do they say thats where they learned it, you see the air bisons in the show. They are right there. Raava didn't teach them, the bisons did.

The "bad writing" thing is getting old now The first airbenders had tattoos referencing Raava bc they didn't have bison to learn from Taaga's tatoos reference the spirit staff where he got his bending Old gen nomads reference the bison bc they are their masters

Another example of korras story meddling with established things in ATLA. its clear the arrow was meant to reflect the sky bisons it wasnt meant to be something that evolved that way over time. I hate how the new stuff is so bound to korras BS

@AbhorrentBeing @AllAboutKorra You could say the same of Toph’s seismic sense. Most can earthbend well without knowing that technique. Toph’s disability led to a keener insight. Same goes for Ming Hua, with her need to be in almost constant motion causing her to innovate a very unique fighting style

@AllAboutKorra If water benders locked in and just practiced this she wouldn't be special. A lot of the weirder bending in this series is just circumstantial and not something inherently unique to them if people bothered to learn it. Including blood bending.

@christ621ml The show just goes way too far into the future. Why did they go so far that not only is the original cast old as fuck, but so are their children. It's just depressing to see everyone associated with the OG show greying or flat out dead. What fan wants to see that?

@DtrainDark @maxx1615090 @_amanidasani @Chilly_MIV I think Amon taking her bending is what helped “unlock” her airbending in a sense. Having lost her connection to the other elements and identity as the Avatar, she was emptied in a sense similar to Zaheer after losing P’li and so gaining flight.

@maxx1615090 @_amanidasani @Chilly_MIV Because she’s still an Airbender, just because she doesn’t know how to do it doesn’t make her not a bender. By all means Amon should’ve taken it along with the rest of her bending
