British racing has today launched its first Rider Development Pathway – a major new initiative designed to raise riding standards, improve coaching quality and support long-term career progression across the sport. Developed by the Horseracing Industry People Board and delivered by the @BRSNewmarket, the Rider Development Pathway is a series of initiatives designed to support riders at all levels within British horse racing, from entry-level through to advanced, skilled riders, including jockeys and seasoned rider coaches. The Pathway brings together training, coaching and career support into one joined-up system, so riders develop the right skills at the right time, with clear routes to progress. It will bring coaching directly into training yards, alongside regional workshops and continued support for apprentice and conditional jockeys through the Jockey Coaching Programme. Funded by @RacingGrants and @LevyBoard, the initiative aims to strengthen British racing’s talent pipeline, improve horse training standards and support rider wellbeing and performance. The Rider Development Pathway begins delivery in early 2026. Read more about the launch and what it means for riders, trainers and the wider industry: britishhorseracing.com/press_releases…
