Germany didn’t lose its economic edge overnight, it was hurt by one bad policy after another. High energy costs, endless bureaucracy, overtaxation, and anti-growth mindset have turned an industrial powerhouse into the sick man of Europe. What needs to happen for a turnaround?

@lex_weber98 @EricRSammons Isn’t that what an advanced society does to people who wilfully kill a human life?

You can tell if you are “pro-life” or “anti-abortion” based on what you think should be the consequences for this couple. If you think no consequences, you’re “pro-life”. If you think they should go to jail, you’re “anti-abortion.” We need more people who are anti-abortion.

Jesse Ridgway and his wife are getting a lot of attention for ending their unborn baby’s life because there was a chance of Down’s syndrome. This happens to 90% of babies with Down’s syndrome in England, and we don’t talk about that enough.

@hage8675309 @EricRSammons Interesting. I like that your take is consistent. Do you know why this specific abortion creates that much attention? There are so many healthy children aborted every day and it creates zero backlash.

@lex_weber98 @EricRSammons Yes. Abortion is the intentional killing of a defenseless humans. It should be prosecuted like every other intentional killing.

@RamboArminius1 @EricRSammons True. Don't get me wrong I am not in favor of this abortion. I just struggle to understand why this is the first abortion that creates an outrage. So many healthy children are aborted every day. Why not focus on them first?

@CivicSemblance @EricRSammons Oh sorry my bad. Outlawing in-family marriage is eugenics too. Inbreeding causes genetic defects which we as society somehow like to avoid. So 1930s

@lex_weber98 @EricRSammons I'm not comparing it to eugenics. It IS eugenics. It's a selection for or against traits. This is a form of negative eugenics. Hoping for no health problems is not the same as ending a life because of difficulty with a health situation.

It’s harsh, but whoever told her she does not deserve to be a mother is absolutely right. To be a mother is to have the capacity for unconditional love. Your love was with conditions.

You judged your own unborn child and deemed them unworthy of life. Someone would have absolutely loved this child even if it hadn’t of been their biological parents doing the loving. That’s the real dark side of humanity, taking a gift and deciding their fate.
Collin Rugg@CollinRugg

The YouTuber and his wife, who aborted their baby because the child had Down syndrome, say they've seen "the darkest side of humanity" because of how people are reacting. "We've seen the darkest side of humanity through this process." The "darkest side of humanity" is killing an unborn child because the baby has Down syndrome. Video: @TMZ

@BethanyCherisse Personally I don't find abortion great either way. But the outrage over someone aborting a child with disability seems hypocritical af.

@BethanyCherisse Funny how people march for the right of abortion, but when a fetus with a disability gets aborted, abortion is a problem.

Funny how people can advocate for disability rights, then turn around and justify ending a life over a Down syndrome diagnosis. This world is sick and filled with hypocrisy.

@CivicSemblance @EricRSammons I find it wild comparing this to eugenics. I bet if you ever get parent, you'd hope too that you child will be healthy, without any disability, wouldn't you?

@RamboArminius1 @EricRSammons Yeah the docs will tell you if they are aware that your child will have any disabilities. And ask you if you want to keep it or not.

This week, my wife and I made the very difficult decision to terminate the pregnancy due to Trisomy 21. The choice was not made lightly. We really appreciate all of the personal stories that you guys shared with us, especially the unconditional support we received from fans with no matter what we decided. I know some of you may be very disappointed to hear this news. We are devastated. This has been extremely traumatic for both of us, especially Ashley. She underwent the procedure earlier this week and is on the mend. Thankfully, everything went smoothly, but emotionally we are drained. Trisomy 21, also known as Down Syndrome, is caused by an extra chromosome. It is caused by an error in cell division, like a glitch. The odds of a baby having it is 1 in 1000. When I first confronted this news, I was shocked but optimistic. If they’re a little slow intellectually, then we’ll make it work. I signed on to be a parent, come what may…but I just didn’t fully understand what Down Syndrome entailed. Once we made it public, it became clear that MOST people don’t know what Down Syndrome entails (and no, it’s not the same as Autism): 50% of babies with DS have heart defects. 75% will have hearing challenges. Over 50% will have vision problems. Impaired immune function, developmental disabilities, learning disabilities, delayed physical development, poor muscle tone, structural issues with face, decreased lifespan, etc…Sadly, the list is long, feel free to look it up…Down Syndome isn’t a “blessing”, it is objectively shitty from a health perspective. I didn’t realize just how rough it is for the child, let alone the family…more often than not, they would be fully dependent on others for the rest of their life. The miscarriage risk is also close to 50%, which made matters worse…they may never see the light of day and it puts Ashley further at risk. We spoke with doctors, friends, family and genetic counselors and learned that up to 90% of women terminate their pregnancy after learning the baby has Trisomy 21. This was WAY higher than I expected, I thought it would be lower given that I hear so many say they kept or would keep the baby. I believe that’s because most terminations happen privately, it feels shameful. A lot of judgment being cast. You never think you’d be in this type of situation until it happens to you and then things change. To all of my fans who have weighed in on this topic who have Autism, Down Syndrome or any other conditions…we appreciate you. You matter a lot and we’re glad you’re here. I commend you and your families for having the strength and courage to push forward. As for us, we made a difficult decision that we believe in the long-run will be beneficial for our family. Thankfully, we had a choice. It will take a little time to move on, but we are excited to try again in the future and hopefully have a better outcome. Love you guys & thank you for understanding. ❤️

@pastormooreokc @LizzieMarbach @JoelWBerry Hey random dude on X, why the outrage? Pretty sure it wasn't the first abortion ever. I seriously don't get what's going on. 6 months ago everybody was saying how important abortions are - they are woman rights. And suddenly you can't abort a child based on a health condition?

@GrantMa25066011 When healthy children get aborted it was their choice - it's just a fetus. But that whole concept seems to have shifted in this case because it had Down syndrome, so you are evil if you abort it?

While I’m aware it’s a different ballgame than Down syndrome, as someone with autism I still find the notion that a child isn’t worth caring for because of a disability to be personally insulting to me. If you interacted with me today it’d take very keen powers of observation to notice the ways I’m different from normal people, but when I was a kid my autism was definitely pretty noticeable, and the reason that’s changed is because my parents went out of their way to do everything they could to get me the help I needed, despite it being financially and often times very emotionally taxing on them. Look the way I see it, if you believe a child isn’t worth caring for because it’d be too difficult, you aren’t deserving of being a parent. Parents are supposed to love and care for their children unconditionally, it should not be predicated on convenience. And if you truly can’t afford to care for a child with Down syndrome (which these two most definitely can), that doesn’t justify aborting them, other options exist. And while some people will dispute this by saying it’d be cruel to subject them to a life of misery, I’d argue it’s ever crueler to not give them a chance at all. There have been plenty of examples of people with Down syndrome who’ve led incredible lives despite everything, and the people I’ve met with Down syndrome have been some of the nicest and most cheerful people I’ve ever met despite how unfair life has been to them. What these two did was absolutely shameful and they’ll be forced to reckon with it for the rest of their lives, as well as answer for it in the next if you believe such a place exists like I do.
