This release comes with new features and fresh SDKs for creating and controlling self-custodial Lightning wallets - real channels managed by always-online Lightning nodes running inside secure hardware. In the video below, we open a Python shell and hand-type commands to create a self-custodial Lightning wallet on Bitcoin mainnet, fund it, and make payments - in just 3 minutes. Full announcement in the next post 👇

@tando_me Yes, you *do* have those 222 sats in a real channel, but unfortunately due to LDK limitations we can't see it - more info below. Deposit a bit more (we suggest at least 5k sats) and you'll be able to see your full balance, and try some outgoing payments. docs.lexe.app/faq/

@lexeapp Kicking your tires. 😄 Should there be a spendable balance of ~222?

@Gemma570343 What Lightning wallet are you sending from @Gemma570343? We were able to receive 80-100k sats to a Lexe wallet from Misty Breez and Muun, but ran into problems with Phoenix. It seems it might be a Phoenix issue? cc @PhoenixWallet

@AJ__1337 That affects EOL Gemini Lake Atoms, a completely different microarchitecture from our Ice Lake Xeons. Different silicon, different CSME, separate GWK. The vuln chain (CVE-2017-5705 et al.) doesn't even exist on Ice Lake. Curious what CPU you are posting 'don't trust Intel' from?

When signing up to Lexe, you actually generate your root seed on your own device. Your device first verifies the remote attestation generated by the enclave to check that it is running node software that you trust. If that checks out, embedded in the attestation quote is a public key generated by the enclave which your device uses to establish a secure TLS channel which terminates *inside* of the enclave. You then use this TLS connection to give the enclave a copy of the root seed you generated. From that point on, the Lexe operators can help you keep your node online. All sensitive data used in the enclave is encrypted *before* it leaves the enclave, so the host system only sees ciphertexts. There's also something called 'sealing' which is like encrypting something so that only a specific trusted program can decrypt it - this is how the root seed itself is persisted, so that your node can restart without losing the root seed. Hidden in our public repo is a technical document about our security model. If you wanna learn more, it covers all this in full detail. :) github.com/lexe-app/lexe-…

@TheCesarCross I think they generate it inside. Maybe you get them out. If it's e2ee, maybe nobody else can ever get them. @lexeapp

@3d_nout If you wanna dive even deeper, you can read our most technical document about our security model. We hid this in the public repo for the most paranoid Bitcoiners to discover :) github.com/lexe-app/lexe-…

Thanks! 1. Not yet; we've prioritized off-chain features, but a full "sweep everything on-chain" function is definitely in our plans for the mobile app. 2. We do that already actually! The balance on the main screen includes the channel reserve, and you can see the reserved amount under "Send up to" on the channels page.

@lexeapp VERY smooth user experience. Great work! Some feedback: 1. Can the on-chain wallet allow “send all” and deduct network fee from send balance? 2. Would it make sense to hide the reserve from your lighting balance? You could note the reserve in the channel screen.

@AdrianCercenia We distribute `.aab`s with each app release but no `.apk`s yet, for example github.com/lexe-app/lexe-… It should be *possible* to turn this into an .apk, but it would be quite burdensome. We've noted your request for `.apk`s to make sideloading easier.

Every Lexe user now gets their own Human Bitcoin Address (BIP 353), which resembles an email address but is used to receive Bitcoin: for example ₿awesome-zebra1@lexe.app Custom usernames (₿me@lexe.app) are in the works! First come, first serve.
