@lexgates Yes we teach family and carers sometimes to do NP suction when necessary. We will teach someone to be a cascade trainer and sign off competencies for them to be able to sign others off.

Do any resp physios have experience of teaching parents how to NP suction? Is NP suctioning something that is routinely completed in the community setting? Thank you

@lexgates @TheACPRC We also use A/B/C system in line with the system we use in the week. A=would deteriorate without daily/multiple times per day intervention, B= at risk of deterioration if not reviewed &day 1 post op general & CT surgery, C = postop day2 onwards and stable

@lexgates We use A/B/C to help prioritise weekend caseload A- Priority pt. High risk deterioration without input B- likely to deteriorate without or needs specific adjunct C- Lower priority/ more stable chest. Simple but does the job pretty well most of the time
