@illicitaura oh i love that!!! do they only tell you brands and colors they have in sephora or could i also get color recommendations for brands not in sephora?

@lexs_version It was definitely so cool. It’ll tell you which ones you match completely with and others that have a cooler match on you. Then they’ll swab them on your skin to see which one you like better.

can any makeup girlies help me out?? what are we matching our foundation to? our necks? our chest? our faces?? all 3 are different colors for me and i never know what to match. the first picture is my current foundation to my neck, and the second picture is the same foundation on my forehead. both in the same lighting lol 🥴

@illicitaura wait, i might need to do this!!! i want to try ari’s foundation so i got colored matched at ulta, but im not sure its the right color. I need to try sephora!

@lexs_version I believe it’s a combination of 3 different spots on your face. I went to Sephora today to get a new one and they used a skin scanner device on me to match me from the website.

@Geayled that’s what i normally do and then blend down my neck so everything matches! i got color matched at ulta and they did my neck so then it threw me for a major loop and google says neck in some places and chest in others 😂😂

@lexs_version I like to match my chest because my neck is way lighter than my face and neck

@cowboyIikemee the one in the photos is a neutral! i think it might have some rosy undertones, but it seems to pull more golden/orangey on me than anything. The new foundation I got is straight neutral so i’m curious to see how that goes

that’s so true! I normally always blend with a wet beauty blender and i feel like that always ends up making all the foundations a little thinner! i got a lighter foundation to match my neck so hopefully that goes well and we will see how i feel! I can always warm it up with bronzer if it feels too light! Thank you so much for the advice!!

@lexs_version To what ever you feel more condortable and happy with if you like the more tan side of your chest you can match to that color if you like it more the shade of you gave go with it! My best advice is use lower coverage foundations so if it’s a bad shade match is less noticeable

@cowboyIikemee when i was at ulta, we tried cool tone and it ended up looking very grey on me so maybe i should try mixing a neutral and cool tone 🤔

@lexs_version It should be an “average” of all the colours on your face. This one looks a bit too dark and warm, even on your forehead. Look for a cool toned foundation.

@killa_shannon So so true!! i’ll probably get bronzing drops to help color match a little better. it’s always so hard when your neck is so light compared to everything else hahaha

@lexs_version The neck doesn't get the sun the way the face/chest do, so sometimes that goes totally sideways for foundation. 😭 Don't judge the foundation color until you do a full face of it and adjust where needed. You can always add a liquid bronzer or drops to adjust based on season!

@finding_jordy see, this is the issue i have! my chest and face match but my neck is so pale so half the time the store match my face and the other half of the time they match my neck 😫

My face and chest are the same color and my neck is very pale so sephora said to color match my face and blend down my neck which is what i’ve been doing for YEARS, but then ulta told me to match my neck so then i was lost hahaha. Thank you!! i got a lighter color and i think adjusting with bronzer is gonna be what i do!

@lexs_version Find something that works with your face, neck and chest. If your face and chest are similar, then you're probably good. I think this looks a little dark and may not be the right undertone. I personally would rather be a lighter on my face and adjust with contour and bronzer.

@lexs_version your neck! always match to your neck bc it’s going to match your body the closest and it prevents that line of color at your jaw. it’s might be more pale than what you’re used to seeing on your face but it looks way more natural/better

@delaniraeann this is so so smart!! everytime i try to match my neck, it doesn’t match my chest because my chest is tanner like my face but then when i match my face, I have to blend down my neck everytime. it’s hard to get the right color haha. Getting two colors to mix is so smart

@lexs_version neck and chest! i also usually buy 2 shades and mix them together so i can match if im out in the sun a lot or if my self tanner fades, etc etc
