They got this thing so wrong. You can see Nkuta wincing and fighting the hands as Dean tries to separate, only for Moraes to give an extra squeeze for another 1-2 seconds forcing Herb to pry his hands off. Moraes knew exactly what he was doing and got away with it.

Got the scorecard for Nkuta-Moraes. Nkuta was up 20-18 on two scorecards, and the other had it 19-19.

@MikeHeck_JR You think it was a good call to do it now? I get the thinking, but I don’t think it hits as hard knowing it was coming, and also being diluted a bit with many watching MVP card. It’ll be interesting to see what gets the most engagement. The Conor news or the MVP card.

Bad flashback of my fight with Ricky Simon. @PhumiNkuta_MMA was NOT out before the bell. His opponent held him 2 seconds after the bell and that’s when he was slept. Ref should have broken it up at bell and the fight would have gone to decision. Again- case of bad reffing… costs Phumi a loss 😡

I don't think you can definitively say Nkuta was out at the time of the bell, so ruling that a Tech Sub seems egregiously bad to me.
Also, he didn't call a stop at 4:59. He pulled Moraes off at the bell.

Am I crazy? The broadcast team keeps saying, "What a fight," "crazy," and "amazing," and is even pitching a rematch.
I thought that was uneventful and close to boring. Personally, not interested in a seeing that again, unless it absolutely makes sense sporting/deserving-wise.

Trump plays no role whatsoever in UFC becoming mainstream. This is either a lie or mistake that keeps being repeated but is flatly not true. The two shows in 2001 at Taj Mahal did nothing to repair UFC's fortunes at the time. The turning point is 2005's The Ultimate Fighter.
