Breaking: The Government is not going to legislate to increase personal injury award levels, in a move that is seen as a major blow to the legal sector.  It comes after a committee of judges had made a controversial proposal to hike injuries award guidelines by almost 17pc.

@Johngodwyer1 So sad to see. We used to walk the Avenue there as children, Ponsonby family allowed access. On one occasion, one of the older ladies showed us around the walled garden. What a shame to see it in this condition.

Further deterioration obvious at Kilcooley House, Co Tipp. Some of the roof has now been lost from the great Palladian Mansion of the Barker/Ponsonbys. It actually carries a preservation order, but another part of our Georgian heritage seems about to be lost.

@SusanSmythSL I think you’d observe the same Non Waving from a lot of Dubliners who can’t seem to fathom why we salute everyone we meet “down the country”.

I live in rural Ireland, specifically down a boreen. We wave at everyone that’s life here. Recently a British gentleman purchased a house at the top of our road. He doesn’t wave back or smile. How is it possible to be this rude in real life 😂 I mean blatant non waving 👋

@Johngodwyer1 Very sad to see. My Mother picnicked in the surrounding fields there as a child. And when we were small, we’d walk the avenue as a family, guessing how many steps were left to reach the gate, to distract grumbling children from what seemed like a very long walk.

Further decay is obvious including part of the roof missing at Kilcooley House, the once proud Palladian mansion of the Barker/Ponsonby family at Gortnahoe, Thurles despite being a protected building. Sadly, another part of our built heritage will soon be lost.

@conor_pope I’m personally very proud of how both @SimonHarrisTD and Tánaiste Michael Martin have spoken on this ongoing outrage against humanity - While much of the rest of the world stands by. Or worse, facilitates it. I’m looking at you USA.
