Our report uncovers China's massive colonial boarding school system in Tibet. 800,000 - 900,000 Tibetan children ages 6-18 are separated frm their parents & families in schools designed to strip them of their identity. This # doesn't include 4 & 5 yr-olds in boarding pre-schools.

As Uyghur refugees in Thailand face the imminent threat of deportation, CFU Executive Director @RushanAbbas has been on the ground, advocating for their cause. Together with colleagues from the World Uyghur Congress, Rushan met with Thai Parliament Member @nolkannavee, civil society leaders Chalida Tajaroensuk of the People’s Empowerment Foundation, and Phil Robertson of the Asia Human Rights Labour Advocates, engaged with the media, and held important discussions with diplomats and other stakeholders to prevent the Thai government from deporting 48 Uyghur refugees to China. We call on all allies to raise their voices and urge Thai authorities to uphold their obligations and immediately halt the deportation of these men.

Every year, more than a million #Tibetan & #Uyghur #children in #China are separated from families, most sent to residential schools. Why? To forcibly assimilate & make them 'good' Chinese citizens. I am happy to contribute to this excellent piece in New York Times.

The earthquake in Tibet, and absolutely everything that happens there, must be seen within this context: Tibetans have no freedom. Zero civil or political liberties. No right to do - even in a natural disaster - what normal people do: Help. Post videos. Share info.

"A video posted by "Bodong Kangzhuo" on WeChat said 2 nuns from Zongbu Monastery died in the earthquake. Now this video cannot be opened. Originally a reporter for "China Tibet Net", her video about this Monastery has been edited and the part about the dead nuns is missing."
