Caolan Finnegan is battling aggressive brain cancer. He’s a wonderful young man. A lovely family. The community is raising funds to save his life. It’s that simple. A collection will take place at games this weekend or you can donate here: bit.ly/3yNsWFq Thank you❤️

@BrophShane Worrying - very impressed with his openness/transparency but claims to be a progressive president yet wants to bring us back to where we started 🤷‍♂️

Excellent show, real debate on issues. Respectfully disagree on September All Ireland's return, it would kill the club game as I'd fear inter-county players would opt not to play for their clubs in autumn/winter.

5 years ago this weekend, Derry played the division 4 final. Today it’s division one. A remarkable turnaround 1/3 of the starting team in 2019, involved today, with more on bench.

@liamengland78 I know it was obvious from the past year, but another reminder of how he seems to genuinely care about the sport and doing what he can for it. Get what you mean too. All of the takes depend on how the next nine goes 😅

Rory McIlroy doing a live interview while walking down the fairway is unreal. Can't imagine many would even contemplate doing that

@m_brosnan Not a fan of that - would Johnny Sexton give an interview before a penalty kick or Jason Forde before a 65? A step too far me thinks.

@movementcoachkm I think you just proved my first point in that ex-players are the only option at the minute. I’d imagine that the number of people that have both knowledge of GAA games (I’m sure you’d agree that has to be #1) and a Masters in Skill/Performance Acq are few and far between.

@liamengland78 It has nothing to do with badges though. Coach Ed is rubbish. And tbh, UEFA badges aren’t all that either (although improving) The GAA in general doesn’t understand skill, although some people in the coaching of Gaelic Games do. As for study. Academically there are several..

It would be great if we got to a place where Skills and Performance Coaches were actually Skills and Performance Coaches * a small handful are actually suitably qualified and doing a great of job, but it’s a tiny few.
OurGame.ie@OurGameHQ

Paul Galvin will not be involved with the Kildare senior football backroom this season. Galvin had been involved as a skills coach in 2022, but Kildare boss Glenn Ryan has now confirmed that Galvin has stepped away “for personal reasons”. 🗞️ Irish Independent.

@movementcoachkm Study GAA performance/skills, how and where? Am not saying that ex-players make good coach’s, some do and some don’t but I’m struggling to see an alternative as again the GAA don’t have a worthy Coaching pathway like UEFA Badge etc…in Soccer.

@liamengland78 People who study skill, performance & coach it all the time.Players, usually anyway, are a very poor judge of why they are “skillful”. I’ve heard PG & many others talk about skill & it’s clear they don’t understand it. Being able to do something is a poor predictor of teaching it

@SmallerFishGAA @Kildarejohn Can Crokes be exempt from any blame here? Surely they’re management team have some responsibility to ensure player comes off the field?

If there was ever an opinion that sums up what is wrong with the GAA, it's the idea that Glen who didn't break any rules and who are perfectly entitled to object to blatant rule violation are somehow to blame for the mess Kilmacud and Croke Park created.
Smaller Fish@SmallerFishGAA

No one is thinking of the Kilmacud players. The hatred of the Shane Walsh transfer is fuelling the mob. The heartbreak of last year, the dignity they showed in defeat, celebrated the win for 3 days only for Glen to object on Tuesday night at 11pm. What a mess by the GAA & Glen

@truefergallynch GAA is the greatest gift you can give a child but the paranoia with others sports is way too much. Kids should play everything until it becomes too much and they can then decide - if clubs are run well GAA will win. Players first - code/association second.

Constantly hearing arguments that if the GAA don't do this, that and d'other they will lose young players to soccer & rugby... why exactly is that??? Never hear from soccer or rugby clubs about losing players to GAA!!!! GAA is a long time knocking around now with massive numbers
