I'm really torn on Waiparera Trust. I'm told by those I know on the ground that John Tamihere runs one of the best private healthcare organization New Zealand has ever seen. What they achieve with the funds they get is apparently far beyond what the ministry can do.

Good time to remember the outrageous fees that Weipareira charged to syphon off funds that were ostensibly destined for needy Maoris. Tamihere the ultimate grifter.

Tamihere's Waipareira Trust is a disgrace. $94M in revenue from taxpayers & still funnelling money into political campaigns, giving themselves huge bonuses & dodgy loans. How much more taxpayer $s are we going to waste on this? The govt needs to cut off funding & sort it out!

Investigators uncovered John Tamihere pocketing a $394K bonus—on top of his $500K+ salary—plus a massive annual leave payout deliberately calculated on that bonus-inflated salary. The bonus just happened to exactly match the previous unrepaid loan the Trust gave him for his Maori Party/Te Pati Maori political campaigns. All from a radical Maori separatist dominated trust repeatedly described as “combative or obstructive”. This is blatant, undeniable race grifting corruption. Waipareira Trust has been run as a taxpayer-funded slush fund for the Tamihere family and the Maori Party’s leadership. Waipareira Trust funds mayoral bids and political parties (illegal activity under the rules of charity registration). Charities Board tip toes… Family First says marriage is one man one woman. Charities Board (and the Labour Attorney General!) fights for 10 years all the way to the Supreme Court in order to deregister us. Politicians look the other way. Two-tiered society. 🙄

@Mykuhl Waipareira Trust do a fantastic job catering to the many health needs of the people. I've taught out west for 30+ years and seen them grow and support the whānau of kids in my school. They are active in the community, their work is invaluable.

This is probably where an amnesty and allowing Waiparera to switch from a charity to a business, but keeping the accrued profits tax-free would be in everyone's best interests. There's an incentive for Tamahere to change, without society losing the benefit of his organization.

@Mykuhl Waipareira are clearly being over paid by their contracting organisations to be, year in year, accumulating large surpluses. It is a failing of govt, and NZ families are the loser. It’s not Waipareira efficiency, it’s government waste, fraud and abuse. .

Sweden's socialist experiment collapsed spectacularly in the early 1990s, forcing politicians to abandon decades of central planning and embrace free markets. The results speak louder than any economic textbook ever could. By 1990, Sweden's government consumed 67% of GDP. The marginal tax rate hit 87%. Capital flight accelerated as entrepreneurs fled to countries that didn't punish success. The krona crashed. Banks failed. Unemployment spiked to 9.9% by 1997. Sweden's welfare state had priced itself out of reality, just as free market economists predicted it would. Then came the great reversal. Sweden privatized telecommunications, postal services, railways, and electricity. Politicians slashed the corporate tax rate from 57% to 22%. They introduced school vouchers, allowing parents to choose private schools with taxpayer funding. They partially privatized pensions, letting workers invest in individual accounts instead of relying solely on government promises. Most importantly, they eliminated wealth taxes and inheritance taxes that had driven capital overseas. The recovery was swift and decisive. GDP growth accelerated. Unemployment plummeted to 6.1% by 2007. Sweden became a tech powerhouse, producing global companies like Spotify and Skype. The Stockholm stock exchange outperformed most European markets. Foreign investment flowed back as Sweden transformed from socialist cautionary tale to Nordic success story. Today's American progressives love citing "Scandinavian socialism" while ignoring that Sweden's prosperity stems from abandoning socialism when it failed. They want the Sweden of 2023 while implementing the policies of 1975.

Claiming Israel trains dogs to rape Palestinians is modern day blood libel — propaganda pushed as more horrific details emerge about Hamas’ systematic torture on Oct. 7. For being Jewish — Hamas raped a woman and burnt half of her face off in front of her husband; shoved nails, metal, and sharp objects into Israeli women; forced family members to sexually assault each other so that if they survived they would be traumatized by the sight of each other; raped corpses; the list goes on. Distracting from these atrocities and smearing Israel while victims still fight for acknowledgment is sickening.
