Things really do feel about as miserable in the world as I can ever remember. And I'm, you know, not so young. So I'm wondering if you have a song you turn to when everything (the babies, the pets, exercise, etc) else fails--that gives you at least a temporary little lift?

i truly hope that these blows to the fragile diversity, access, inclusion frame encourage students, staff & faculty to organize for more transformational education, like open enrollment, free tuition, dropping standardized tests, community control mechanisms over private boards

@lydia_zv @davehudson123 Sadly we lost Real Life last year. And quite a loss. I’m very curious to learn what ya land on as a venue though. Baffler and Boston Review are some of my go-tos for non-academic long reads though.

@tttkay @marika_louise @UCLAiS Jeanie Austin! They’re great. They also administer a reference-by-mail internship (which I was l lucky enough to participate in) for any of your students that might want to get more involved.

@marika_louise i remember a librarian from sfpl’s mail reference program for incarcerated folks did a great talk for a @UCLAiS colloquium sfpl.org/services/jail-… also the abolitionist library association may be a good resource
