Dr. Camilla Floros, one of CORDAP’s most recent awardee and principal researcher at Wild Impact, emphasizes the urgent need to scale up coral restoration efforts on Mnemba Island, in the semi-autonomous region of Zanzibar. In 2023, alongside local communities, Camilla’s team deployed six large artificial structures containing over 1,500 coral colonies. Funding provided by CORDAP will support the deployment of 18 additional artificial reefs, with a goal to increase coral cover on degraded reefs by 10% within three years.
