Il est temps d’avoir un peu de fierté et de lucidité. Ceux qui dirigent nos institutions sportives, et particulièrement les responsables de la communication au sein des différentes fédérations, doivent se réveiller et cesser d’accorder de l’importance à n’importe qui. Inviter certaines personnes, les loger dans des hôtels cinq étoiles, mettre des chauffeurs à leur disposition et leur offrir un traitement privilégié pour qu’au final elles dénigrent notre pays, notre peuple et nos valeurs n’a aucun sens. À un moment donné, il faut savoir reconnaître ses erreurs, se regarder dans une glace et se demander si l’on valorise réellement les bonnes personnes. Le respect se mérite, et il ne devrait jamais être accordé à ceux qui ne manifestent aucun respect en retour.

It’s funny because over the past month, I’ve mostly seen negative comments on X about the bad state of CDMX and how the city is not ready for the Mundial. I’m not the best judge of that. My point is that the eyes of a stranger are often less judgmental and more ready to be mesmerized by anything, even things that may seem ordinary or imperfect to locals. It reminded me of my first months in Mexico. I was also in a constant state of awe about everything. Mexico might not be perfect, but it’s certainly unique, and Mexicans should be proud of it.
