Cumhurbaşkanımız Sayın Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Irak Kürt Bölgesel Yönetimi Başbakanı Mesrur Barzani’yi Cumhurbaşkanlığı Dolmabahçe Çalışma Ofisi’nde kabul etti. Kabulde bölgemizdeki son gelişmeler ele alındı. Cumhurbaşkanı Erdoğan, ABD ile İran arasındaki savaşta, Erbil dahil Irak topraklarının da hedef alınmasından üzüntü duyduklarını, Türkiye olarak çatışmaların bölgemizdeki diğer ülkelere yayılmasını asla istemediğimizi, bu süreçte IKBY yönetimiyle dayanışmamızın süreceğini ifade etti. Cumhurbaşkanımız, Irak’taki istikrarın muhafaza edilmesinin tüm bölge için önemli olduğunu, Merkezi Hükümetin bir an önce teşkilinin Irak’ın birlik ve beraberliğine hizmet edeceğini belirtti. Cumhurbaşkanı Erdoğan, Türkiye’nin hem Irak Merkezi Hükümeti hem de Kürt Bölgesel Yönetimi ile iş birliğini geliştirmekte kararlı olduğunu, ticaret, ulaştırma, enerji başta olmak üzere birçok alanda ilişkilerin daha ileriye taşınması için adım atmayı sürdüreceğimizi, “Kalkınma Yolu Projesi”nin hayata geçirilmesinin sadece Irak için değil Körfez bölgesi için de büyük faydalar sağlayacağını ifade etti. Cumhurbaşkanı Erdoğan, “Terörsüz Türkiye” sürecini başarıya ulaştırmakta kararlı olduğumuzu, hem ülkemizde hem komşularımızda huzur ve istikrarı arzu ettiğimizi belirtti.

I had a productive meeting with Foreign Minister @HakanFidan on the developments affecting the region. We also discussed the ongoing efforts to form the new federal cabinet in Iraq. We further emphasized the importance of implementing the Development Road project and connecting the Gulf countries, Iraq, and the Kurdistan Region with Türkiye and Europe through a railway network.

I spoke by telephone with my brother HH Sheikh @MohamedBinZayed, to discuss ways to further strengthen relations between the Kurdistan Region and the UAE, as well as developments in the region. I reiterated our position of support and the condemnation of the recent attacks targeting the UAE and reaffirmed the importance of maintaining peace and stability across the region.

I welcomed Prime Minister-Designate of the federal government @AliFalihAlzaidy and a delegation from the Coordination Framework to Erbil. We discussed ongoing efforts to form the new federal cabinet. I reaffirmed our support to form a new government and to resolve the outstanding issues between the Kurdistan Region and the federal government on the basis of the Constitution, with full respect for the rights of the people of Kurdistan, and the federal status of the Kurdistan Region. I also stressed that a new opportunity has emerged to address these issues fundamentally, ensure the fair treatment of the Kurdistan Region, and advance Iraq’s political process on the basis of partnership, balance, and consensus. Prime Minister-Designate Al-Zaidi expressed his appreciation for our support and emphasized that a stronger Kurdistan Region contributes to a stronger federal government, and reaffirmed his commitment to the fair treatment of the people of Kurdistan.

We strongly condemn the ongoing drone attacks against the Kurdistan Region over the last several days. Although we have not been part of the conflict, we continue to come under attack. Despite the ceasefire and ongoing peace talks, these attacks have killed at least five people and injured many more, in an effort to undermine the ceasefire and further harm our region. We reiterate our call on the federal government to take practical measures to end these attacks, and we urge our international partners to provide the equipment necessary to protect Kurdistan from these ongoing threats, including our civilian and energy infrastructure.

I spoke with @SecretaryBurgum about Kurdistan Region’s energy outlook and the role of US companies in the industry. There is great potential for collaboration. I reiterated the need for more protection from attacks and welcomed the opportunity to discuss our economic partnership.
