what does it mean to paskin like the rambam (or anyone) when it comes to laws of identifying mashiach is currently putting my brain into a little bit of a tongue twitter.

@DBashIdeas IIRC RIMM discusses so that people can't just claim someone that doesn't fit the Rambam's definition is Moshiach. To claim an exception to the stated definition is bechinas nevuah and carries a significant possibility of nevias sheker.

Does anyone talk about this? Seriously. Like I don’t understand this.

Today's Hayom Yom (21 Adar II) is about the spiritual gift the Alter Rebbe received from the Maagid. Today is also the @Yahrtzeits of the Rebbe Reb Meilich who also famously gave 4 of his students spiritual gifts. Are there other tzadikim who gave/received similar gifts?
