Lil Bit’s Humans

To bring everyone up to speed, here’s a little background and timeline on the recently famous, undeniably adorable, Lil’ Bit. August 2011: Bit was found inside of a cinderblock as a kitten. She was not particularly interested in being rescued, but her humans insisted. She quickly became accustomed to her new indoor lifestyle. December 2022: More than ten years later, the infamous photo is taken during a road trip. The humans were particularly amused by it, repeatedly telling her that she was “such a pretty genie”. She was not as amused. December 2022-February 2026: For over three years, the humans found themselves entertained by the photo from time to time when scrolling through memories. They thought it was funny. Really funny even. But they had no idea that the internet would be in such strong agreement. February 9, 2026: Judgement Day. One of the humans posts the photo to a Facebook cat group. “I’m sure someone will get a kick out of this”, she thought. She was correct. In the Days that Transpired: - The Facebook post racked up over 80,000 likes - A subsequent Reddit post surpassed 50,000 upvotes - The humans became aware that the photo was going viral - A TikTok repost climbed to over 18 million views and over 4 million likes - Edits of the photo flooded the internet - A meme coin was born using Lil’ Bit’s likeness, under the ticker $BIT It was a strange week for the humans. And then it got stranger. They learned that after the meme coin was “rug pulled” (a new term to them), it had undergone a Community Take Over (another new term) by none other than @GunnaAGang . Gunna contacted the humans, generously offering to onboard them into the community and split the transaction fees down the middle. They happily obliged. So here we are. From humble cinderblock beginnings to partial owners of an entire online currency. Not what I had on my 2026 bingo card. In all seriousness… To anyone who has liked, shared, or edited our photo in the past week, thank you. It has been an utter trip to see our silly cat all over our socials. For anyone who has traded $bit since our involvement, thank you even more! We never expected to earn a cent off her 15 seconds of fame, and it makes the whole story that much funnier to us. We’ll tell our kids about this ride some day. For anyone still holding or buying $bit , thank you the most! We’ve learned so much about the crypto world this week, but what has stuck out the most is the kindness and belief of complete internet strangers in the space.
