It's wild what you can do if you know how to direct the actor. But things change when multiple characters talk. Things don't work. The pace sucks. Ultimately the script changes. The performances for some reason don't come through. Then the real work begins. Regen, analyze the words, the micro-expressions. That's the real craft. Sure it might seem impressive with one person monologuing like the scenes I have below. But the reality is the only thing that matters is when multiple characters engage in dialogue with one another. The hard thing is every single film is a different animal. Just because you successfully did it before doesn't mean it will be any easier next time. Every new film is a beast that requires taming. I recall what Spielberg said before his films. That he's nervous, has no idea what to do, has no plan. Sometimes, it's exactly how I feel before it all starts working. #directing #film #acting

@kevinklev1 @benjamincowen you're wrong. that's for "violent conduct" which is a different rule. he got carded for "serious foul play" because he endangered the safety of the opponent. if you can look at that tackle without wincing and still think it's not a red, then i don't know what to tell you

@liliumdev @benjamincowen Malice has to be a condition for the red cards. The rules contain words/phrases like “deliberate” and “act of aggression.” Besides the fact that it wasn’t a clear tackle, they were both jostling for position and his foot came up. Bad call. Yellow cards for sure, red was excessive

The US losing their star player for the next match because he inadvertently stepped on the other player makes no sense. He deserves a yellow card, but not a red

It's wild how quickly Etched designed and got the chips out, all within 2 years. They went deep, hardcoding attention into silicon and getting very high MFU. This kind of hardware tailored made for LLM inference is soon gonna bring cost of intelligence down 10x

Not many people know that Ermin Mahmić already played in our youth setup before but switched back and forth (nothing wrong). He still has a lot of work to do, but it’s impressive that he’s the one now playing World Cups. In a ‘normal scenario’, it would have been Bakir Nurković. Difference is that Mahmić is physically strong (which also matters for non-physical abilities), while the other isn’t at all. A lot of things are easy to predict if you know what to look at, but there will always be surprises - whether it’s mentality, pathway, a new role, or who knows what else. In youth football, it’s also important to look at who can best transition to senior football, not who is the best player.
