A rather overlooked story from Prince William’s visit to Wales earlier this week highlighting 𝗟𝗶𝗺𝗯 𝗔𝗿𝘁 — a business founded by 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗺𝘀, 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗚𝗕 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗹𝘆𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗰 𝘀𝘄𝗶𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿. The Prince of Wales addressed more than 300 delegates, including Rachel Reeves, the Chancellor, at the Wales Investment Summit, an event staged by the Welsh Government to encourage foreign companies to fund new ventures. The business showcase, held at the International Convention Centre Wales in Newport, was said to be the most significant event hosted by Wales since the 2014 Nato summit, with 250 companies due to attend, of which 150 were new investors to Wales. The Prince was greeted on arrival by Eluned Morgan, First Minister of Wales, and was introduced to Andrew Goodall, permanent secretary for Wales, and Sir Terry Matthews, a Welsh businessman. He then toured various stands promoting innovative and environmental businesses in Wales, meeting entrepreneurs including Mark Williams from Limb Art. Mr Williams, 53, a former Team GB Paralympic swimmer, described how his company had been inspired by his own experience in losing his left leg after being hit by a car while riding his bike as a child on June 21, 1982. “𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝗺𝘆 𝗯𝗶𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗱𝗮𝘆,” the Prince told him, to which Mr Williams replied: “I know.” He described how he was rushed to Glan Clwyd Hospital in north Wales. “𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗼𝗻 𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗸 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝘆 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗮𝗶𝗱 𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝗱 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗻𝗲𝘄𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝗱 𝗻𝗲𝘄𝘀,” Mr Williams explained. “𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐧𝐞𝐰𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐃𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐚 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐝 𝐚 𝐛𝐚𝐛𝐲 𝐛𝐨𝐲, 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐡 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐖𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐦. 𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐚𝐝 𝐧𝐞𝐰𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐧’𝐭 𝐬𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐤’𝐬 𝐥𝐞𝐠.” His 𝗟𝗶𝗺𝗯 𝗔𝗿𝘁 business developed almost accidentally after he made a cast for himself – a replica of his “good leg” – and posted about it on social media. Soon afterwards he was inundated with requests to make them for others.
