JW’s The Killer remake felt like it was made in between his TV movie Blackjack and his Once a Thief remake. A heavy handed pastiche of his signature motif’s, but with little cinematic bravura and no heroic bloodshed. Still, it did have a few small moments of cinematic elegance.

In case you’ve often wondered like I, where all the Shaw brothers films ended up after disappearing from Amazon, I’m happy to report they’re on, of all places, UFC Fightpass. As well as some other HK classics and some Chuck Norris films. #shawbrothers

The Dial of Destiny would have been far better if they’d just cast Sean Patrick Flannery as Indy instead of uncanny valleying Harrison Ford.

@A_B_Allen @charleetwatter There’s an interview with Chad talking about how they had more time to shoot at the Arc than MI:Fallout did because it was during the pandemic. It’s probably a combination of some on location shooting and a lot of layering and CGI.

@A_B_Allen It’s definitely a trend, but I don’t think Lowery’s sensibilities play into it, I think it’s more Disney pushing this as their aesthetic. Soderbergh is the king of natural, motivated light, and I can’t think of a single film where it suffered from this same dreadful look.
