@RobSilver Agreed. He will not make it out of the primary. Too elite at time when economy is fracturing between elite and everyone else. But his populist take on AI is the right frame.

@lindsayfg I can’t possibly imagine someone worse to run for the Democrats in the current climate - he’s the Chairman of the Board of the Epstein Class.

@dgorgan That point can and should be made. In private. Not in a public interview that is now going viral. She is auditioning for the top job. They say it is lonely at the top for a reason. Because you serve many stakeholders.

@lindsayfg But she’s not CEO. She’s EIC. Her loyalty rests with the editorial staff. If they are overworked and underpaid, they need to know that she’s in their corner. She needs to get caught trying to get them paid, even, and especially, if she can’t.

It's not her digital first thinking people are responding to. It's that this is not an answer you give as CEO. The frame of the question is negative and Anna recognizes that and accurately reframes. Saying you'd like to pay people more is not something you can say as CEO.

hmm ppl are responding negatively malle's digital-first strategic thinking here, and responding positively to wintour's flexing... when vogue's failure to adopt a digital strategy 15-20 years ago-- on wintour's watch!-- is kinda what got them in their current pickle

@amandalitman @bmluse Fundamentally disagree. She can be "authentic" without inadvertently agreeing that the financial pinnacle of Vogue has passed. In leadership, what got you here won't get you there. That's the issue. As the head of digital she can say these things. Not as head of Vogue.

@bmluse @lindsayfg It's the kind of leadership style you need to be able to thrive moving forward - honest, direct, transparent, authentic, and clearly mission/goal-oriented. It's what you're gonna see from lots & lots of next-gen leaders moving forward!

@bmluse Yes. But, as a leader, with hundreds reporting to you and investors looking at you, you can't say "I wish I could pay people more bc they're overworked". Instead say: "We still have lots of runway to invest in exciting opportunities today. We are looking at investing in..."

@lindsayfg i see where youre coming from, but i think malle's answer did a lot to set her apart from anna and define her as a real individual who's not afraid of tension. her honesty and directness felt refreshing, like a signal of what may come
