@DTDSoftball And as someone who still plays, the difference in some umpires can make people potentially in game adjust too because they can be so different. I think it’s helpful at this point, Iike you said, to teach more the deeper meaning so they have at least tools to choose from

@lindsayMthomas That doesn’t mean that u need somebody like me however when I have D1 catchers tell me that their Catching Coach sees something on SM and says replicate with no deeper meaning we’re not getting any better… or coaches creating carbon copy what THEY did.

Just a thought…
If one catcher is getting a pitch that another isn’t… maybe take some notes instead of complaining
Example… square shoulders and a subtle move into the zone from the river as opposed to a STICK AND HOLD with a major shoulder lean.

Mental skills are important because you could have a 1.7 pop time but if you play with fear and don’t know how to handle pressure you’re going to play tense and tight.
