Wallace Crawford, the former homeless sneaker creator who captured the world's attention with his Pepsi-bottle Jordans and a landmark $5 million deal with Nike, was found deceased last night in room 312 of the Normandy Hotel on Woodward Avenue. Hotel staff responding to a wellness check discovered Crawford's body amid a chaotic scene: an open bottle of prescription pills on the nightstand, used heroin paraphernalia, crack pipes, marijuana, and scattered liquor bottles littered across the room. Detroit Police have ruled his death an apparent overdose, pending toxicology reports.
