A few weeks ago our daughter picked up "Umbrella Summer" by @lisagraff at random from a library shelf "to try something new" and now she's devouring every book by Graff in the school and county @aacpl catalogs because she loved that first one so much.

This is a really awesome story, about a 4th grade teacher who found a way to reassure her students after having brain surgery (!!), & I'm so honored my book and I got to be a small, surprising part of it. So glad you're back at work, K.D.! :) wtae.com/article/bethel…

I had been scheduled to appear at the Plum Creek Literacy Festival next year, but after learning about the homophobic policies of the host University, I made the decision to drop out. I'm sorry to the readers I won't meet, but this feels like the right call.
