This major outage was not an “isolated incident.” It stems from a failure at the @hydroquebec substation that serves, among others, NDG and Montreal West. This facility has long been known to be outdated and inadequate. Delaying its modernization until 2029 is unacceptable. Nearly 20,000 households were left without power for days in –30°C weather, especially in my riding. Replacing this infrastructure must become an immediate priority. #polqc #assnat

Happy Tartan Day! Did you know there is a tartan not only for Canada, but each province and territory (some unofficial). Let's look at each! Canada: Designed in 1964 by David Weiser, it is known as the Maple Leaf tartan and became an official symbol in 2011. 🧵1/15

A Canadair CL 415 water bomber developed by Canada specifically to fight forest fires. Newfoundland has a fleet of these that we routinely sent to America every year to help them fight their wild fires. That is who we are. Good neighbours and Newfoundlanders are damn proud of it.

Reindeer are stirring… A magical scene from ice age France. Illuminated by oil fat lamps in the darkness of Lascaux, the panel of swimming reindeer was drawn in black manganese crayon 17,000 winters past. Happy Christmas everyone!🎄

Just received an e-mail about a new journal titled Populations. There is already an open-access journal named Population published by @InedFr. Isn't it a bit problematic to launch a journal with a title almost exactly the same as an existing journal in the same field?
