"We condemn this attack on an essential Palestinian cultural institution." PEN America appalled by Israeli authorities’ raid on Palestinian Educational Bookshop in East Jerusalem, outraged that its owners were detained and now banned from their own shop. pen.org/press-release/…

Israel has released two Palestinian bookstore owners after detaining them from their store in East Jerusalem on Sunday. Mahmoud Muna and his nephew Ahmad Muna were handcuffed and taken away by undercover Israeli police officers from The Educational Bookshop at around three in the afternoon, the Middle East Monitor (MEMO) reported. palestinechronicle.com/cultural-erasu…

Please sign and share about the raid by Israeli forces on the Educational Bookshop in Jerusalem and the arrests of Mahmoud and Ahmad Muna. Selling books is not a crime. The Israeli forces have chosen to attack a cultural and intellectual hub of the Palestinian people as well as a space where internationals in Jerusalem gather to learn and discuss current events, for no reason other than their role as a provider of education and a centre of community. docs.google.com/document/d/1Lk…

Israeli Police just raided East Jerusalem's Educational Bookshop, seized books and violently arrested Palestinian owners Ahmed and Mahmoud Muna. Now they’re under house arrest. Here's my interview with Ahmed Muna from inside the book shop in October 2023

My 2nd home in #Jerusalem. Educational Bookshop is much more than a shop, it’s a meeting point for diverse people, cultural center, space for intellectual dialogue. Its owners are decent honest peace-loving people and we are happy they are back among us.

Palestinian books matter. The Educational Bookshop has been a pilgrimage site for so many to discuss and debate. The road to tyranny begins with arresting its owners and confiscating its books. J Street Israel's Nadav Tamir (@rntamir): blogs.timesofisrael.com/palestinian-bo…

Among the books Israeli police initially confiscated from Jerusalem's Educational Bookshop were works by Noam Chomsky, Ilan Pappé, and Banksy, while they presented a children's coloring book as evidence of incitement. 972mag.com/educational-bo…

Today, the JLM police raided two educational bookshops in East Jerusalem, confiscated books, and arrested the owners. The brother of the owners told Haaretz: "They went through the books with Google Translate and took away anything they didn't like. They even came across>>

Says it all, really. One of the books seized by the Israel police in the Educational Bookshop raid? A brilliant book about antisemitism by a courageous Israeli-born Jewish author who stands for human rights for all.

When Israeli police shamefully raided East Jerusalem's much loved Educational Bookshop - yes, a bookshop, yes, that's where we are - and detained its Palestinian Jerusalemite owners, one of the books they took was mine haaretz.com/israel-news/20…

1553: Jewish books were burned in Rome by papal decree. 2025: East Jerusalem's Educational Bookshop raided, books confiscated. When books are banned or burned, human rights are at stake. History repeats. #FreedomOfExpression
