@htomufc It’s the same for me but with Liverpool, we badly need him to upgrade on Mac who sadly isn’t returning to his former glory again.

Yeah, I want Mateus Fernandes. I think he’s the best pound for pound deal we could make for a midfielder this summer + he’s completely future proof having played every role since ‘23 and showcased pure quality. No issues over robustness either. Great problem solver. Love him.

[🟢] NEW: “Liverpool will want to recruit for Arne Slot this summer in particular in the winger position. I would expect one or two to come in. They think that will be crucial and once they have come in, that’s when you can perhaps judge Arne Slot more fairly. Liverpool will look to do more work in the transfer market.” [@David_Ornstein on NBC]

I expected better from Alonso, if he can’t smell the trouble that’s waiting at Chelsea from miles away then he’s not as smart about his career as i though he was. He really should stay well clear of that awful club.

🚨 Chelsea exploring deal to appoint Xabi Alonso as next head coach. 44yo former #RMFC boss understood to be open to possibility, although nothing decided yet as process continues. Andoni Iraola also strong contender ahead of departing #AFCB @TheAthleticFC nytimes.com/athletic/69645…

This is the right reaction from Joe Gomez, not that emotional and spoilt nonsense from Grav. Gomez gets that the frustration is about the season and the performances as a whole, we’ve all seen these passive, slow and cowardly performances on a regular basis for far to long and eventually fans are going to snap when their patience is spent.
James Pearce@JamesPearceLFC

Joe Gomez on the Anfield boos: "We get it, we understand it. For us older boys who have experienced so many good times here it does hurt. If it didn't then you shouldn't still be here. We want to make it right. "It's just a reaction to the whole year, and that's fair enough. The fans pay their hard-earned money to come and watch us and they're entitled to show their frustration."

This will not change unless the style and approach changes. Klopp turned it in to a fortress with intensity, relentless pressing and chaos in first halves and every visiting team knew they had to survive the first 20 minutes to have any chance. With Slot and his passive cowardly brand of football they have to try and not fall asleep.
James.@afcjxmes

Liverpool have only won 10 of their 18 PL home games at Anfield this season. Feels like the work Klopp did to turn it into a fortress has been undone.

”But we've played better and not got the points we should have” This is simply not true, neither by stats or eye test. We basically have the points we should have when looking at xPts/match and we’ve been neither lucky nor unlucky, just bang average. (chart from @fc_mossman) Most of our matches in the PL are like a coin toss and can go either way based on the quality of chances. Sometimes we concede late and sometimes we score late, but make no mistake about it, this is a 60-65 point team under Slot and has been for ~15 months now.

🚨 Arne Slot on players lacking belief because so many things have gone wrong: “It always weighs heavy on players if you lose more games than you would want, especially at a club like this. These players are used to winning. The performance clearly in the Premier League we didn't pick up the points we should have. We haven't had a very good season in the Premier League but we've played better and not got the points we should have. In the Champions League we played to our standard. “Over two games, no club has been able to beat PSG in the last two years. We could have gone close at Anfield if VAR hadn't overturned an award [of a penalty] it usually doesn't!”

It’s funny every year to go back to this tweet and seeing that it’s still the last one Busquets ever tweeted. He wasn’t ready, Barca weren’t ready and no one else was ready either, just the craziest evening of CL football at Anfield I’ve ever seen.

This doesn’t sound convincing at all, it would leave the width to the fullbacks who aren’t good enough, it would remove Szobo from the deeper positions on the pitch where he has more influence on the ball and most importantly it means no wingers which we desperately need. All the signs point to us signing wide players so I can’t imagine this being the main shape next season.
Anfield Edition | æ@AnfieldEdition

🥇| @JamesPearceLFC: "There’s been a lot of talk about going to a back three next season but that’s not a system Slot has favoured. After Salah announced he was leaving in March, I was told that part of the plan going forward would be 4-2-2-2 with Isak and Ekitike paired, with Wirtz and Szoboszlai operating behind them. "Ekitike’s ruptured Achilles means they either need someone else to fill that spot or a different system. Either way they have to buy pace."
