Had a fantastic time at El Paso and was really startling to see the changes since 2009! City has implemented a lot of its downtown vision and seeing the results of prior planning work is always so deeply fulfilling! With Michael Huston

@BrentToderian It’s so universal, you could replace any city’s name with Winnipeg and it would ring true..

NEW: The #Brussels “Good Move” Plan will transform movement with 30km/hr speed limits, pedestrianized streets, & a system to limit vehicle thru-traffic that prioritizes walking, biking & transit access in 63 neighbourhoods, learning from Ghent & Groningen. brussels.be/what-good-move

I'm convinced the easiest job in journalism is opinion writing. 1) news happens 2) write down the first thought that comes to mind that will generate clicks, use as little energy as possible 3) profit

@BrentToderian I really liked living in Louisville, KY where I lived in my late 20’s for the following reasons: 1. Could do most things without a car 2. Small town with decent urbanism 3. Affordable in my early days as planner 4. Eclectic and diverse demographics for young professionals

If you have proximity, there is really no need for speed.

@yitgordon @rvalibrary @DPW_RichmondVA Only reason to require it is that curving sidewalks look interesting in plan view. Doesn’t make practical sense. Maybe a leftover of the garden city planning where streets were curvy. We’ve given that up for curvy sidewalks..

Do folks like unnecessarily curving sidewalks? This feels like the kind of thing designed by someone who doesn’t actually walk or roll anywhere. 😕

@WalkableDFW I hate it when people can control a lot of things as it pertains to their use of gasoline— where they live, where they work, type of car they drive and mode of transportation they choose but they constantly complain about the one thing they can’t control— the price of gas.

Every single city that made it easier & quicker for restaurants and cafes to create well-considered outdoor seating on the street outside their place during the pandemic should have already make that easier system permanent, because it made the city better. Every single city.
