SciTexing it was called then, 1985.
The most fun I had with it was the “some lawyer” monologue I wrote to start the article.

It's #ThingThursday! This week this is my Kodak Retina II Type 142 - made between 1937-39 in Stuttgart - I bought this just before I went on school trips to the First World War battlefields, Auschwitz and Munich. Some really haunting photos, like the ones at Hooge Crater Museum, and the gate outside Auschwitz I.

To say the least of it, this does not disappoint. Dazzling work. Congratulations to all involved.

For last 2 years we have been working on a large project to digitise, list & sort a collection of over 800 images (mostly glass negatives) taken by the Engineers Department in the 1920s & 1930s. The images can now be viewed online on our Flickr page:flickr.com/photos/dundeec….

We’re getting to the point where very old people (Deighton was 97) have photos in their pasts that are difficult to date. Viewing them triggers a weird sort of temporal disorientation. I guess this one was taken in the 80s or early 90s, but if you didn’t know who this man was you could easily think it’d been taken much more recently.

I wrote a book! I don't mention it much on this account but if you like landscape, folklore, magic, psychography, weirdness... you MIGHT like this 60 page experimental prose poem about walking the South Downs Way (also available via Am*z*n)
