The first day jitters. Hard to believe this is year 15 of facilitating AQs. Always a great learning opportunity. Primary and Junior Topics for @oise_cpl are ready to go in @MicrosoftFlip with our first book features and morning messages. Can’t wait to meet everyone!

An excellent quote courtesy of my friend Lawrence DeMaeyer; “Oppression begins when the curriculum has been decided before the children even enter the classroom.” Time for a curriculum re-write.

@shanebeckers @TLMarkides I am not assuming anything or insulting you- I asked for your to reflect on the characteristics and a provided a reminder that educators are in it for the children. So sorry you felt attacked.

@lizgregugo @TLMarkides Again, assumptions that I am not caring understanding or flexible from a tweet. I said that cameras can be off in extenuating circumstances. Learning, being surrounded by the face of their peers and people who do care about them develops resilience too. Notice I do not insult you

My 8 yr old came to her zoom class in tears & under a blanket I turned on the camera & she bounced up, wiped her tears & hid the blanket When asked by the teacher to show how they were feeling she lied & gave a 👍 Don't force kids to share their 😭 by making video mandatory

@shanebeckers @TLMarkides You know what really supports the development of resilience? Caring, understanding , flexible, safe and differentiating adults. I would say that you may want to reflect on those characteristics. You are not the centre of learning, the children are.

@TLMarkides I disagree with this. Again, exception not the rule. Cameras should be mandatory unless there are extenuating circumstances. Embarrassment in public builds resilience, and empathy in others. We should be saying it's ok for others to see you cry. Cameras on increases engagement.

Is anyone else wondering why the @fordnation hasn’t figured out that the press conferences are unsafe as each person speaks without a mask releasing droplets, they touch the podium and then return to the background touching their mask?!? If they can’t figure that out...???

Please support this global campaign to increase outdoor play and learning at school! Get involved by signing up, and just going outdoors (preferably with some children but they aren’t essential) this Thursday 5th November! #OutdoorClassroomDay #LoveTheOutdoors @OutdoorClassDay

@cordym @OpalSchool I didn’t always have the “wondering”posted, but upon reflection, started posting them to make Educator learning visible-post what we think the S’s might be discovering, thinking, problem solving with the materials to show our intentional, reflective planning and inquiry stance

Question: why is it best practice to put up signs with provocations and invitations? Who is the intended audience. This image is from my kinder idols @OpalSchool Who is the sign for. The child? The educator? Visitors to the room? Why have them? Do I need them for outdoor ed?

@sencymraeg I think non fiction based on his interests or lived experiences. Also big hardcover books like Guinness Book of World Records is a sure fire hit!

@LINDSEYWELKER6 @000Dave @LovegrenKatie The format of how professional learning is offered. PL needs to be prof INQUIRY- self selected on wonderings, with a variety of formats, texts, times and locations that suit the learner. PL is not effective if it is top down and by PowerPoint or lecture for so many people!!!

As Nadine was painting, Myra stood behind her and commented, “You know what you made? You made peanut butter brown!”. Thank goodness for my book addiction because I had the perfect connection...@WhaleysCorners
