back in my element this week 🦾

I was chatting with my mom about my peds rotation and the vaccination schedule. Turns out she had mumps as a kid because the vaccine wasn't available until she was 8 years old! It's amazing to think about how much medicine has changed just during her lifetime

My bariatric surgery rotation has been so rewarding! It blows my mind that patients who struggled with mobility & comorbidities a year ago are now running 5ks on the weekend! I've gotten a chance to see patients put in hard work for their health and have it pay off -- priceless

@SarahBoltey If you have access to acland anatomy videos use them! They are so thorough and well dissected

So any & all advice for studying anatomy is welcomed/needed!! 😅😂💀

My preceptor taught me that a good conversation about what menopause is, why our bodies are creating these symptoms in a "withdrawal" state, and how hormone therapy can be utilized is a necessary first step to help these patients find relief.

I'm almost done with my first rotation and I have learned SO MUCH about OBGYN! One takeaway that has stuck out to me is how thorough patient education can save women experiencing menopause a lot of hassle through the process.

I can't emphasize enough that chemotherapy is both brutal and miraculous. Just feeling utterly grateful to all of the people who have been part of the scientific and medical processes that made this possible.

Had my first post-treatment follow-up with my oncologist today and, as of right now, I am officially in complete remission.

Today on rotations I learned that Factor V Leiden IS in fact a real disease and NOT just something our professors made up to get us to learn the coagulation cascade

and just like that! After a whole year of teaching (and some shenanigans), our Clinical Simulation Fellowship is over. Excited to finish my Masters in Education & begin clinical rotations!!

Last SIM case of the year! This fellowship has flown by. Today, PA students saw a patient in clinic who has now gotten sicker and been admitted to the hospital where DO and PA students will work together to create a treatment plan.
