Providers are so far removed from the reality of their patients, that it’s like you live on a different planet.

My father fainted today, he is stable, and in good spirits…
Arrived at South Shore Hospital at 2:15pm
It’s 9pm and he has not been seen by a doctor. Zero communication, they just say “we’re changing shifts”
Has anyone experienced 7+ hours without a doctor acknowledgment?

@CatherinVaritek Get Washington to fix Medicare reimbursement so we can earn a decent living and cover our expenses. Get state legislators putting pressure on insurers to improve reimbursement. I have had patients get covid tests denied as ‘not covered under their plan’! It’s out of control!

I feel for you all. The waiting rooms are full for hours, people lined up in hallways. There is no way you nurses can keep up.
What do you think needs to be done so that patients get the care they need in an appropriate time?

@CatherinVaritek Unfortunately yes, it is everywhere. I am an NP. We are forced to work with less resources (reimbursement is down, overhead is grossly inflated) so we do the best we can. We don’t have the ability to raise our rates, insurance tells us what we will be paid, IF we get paid at all.

The NP Modernization Act #A1535 #S3056 is not a “scope of practice” bill. It allows NPs to practice at the top of their licenses. In fact the Exec Orders by @GovKathyHochul & in effect now, does the same thing. The bills don’t allow more or less than what NPs are educated to do.
