@jessbstrait I went from 140k to 89k. It was painful, but my MS improved SO MUCH for it. I did a search for words I realized I overused (just, up, down, etc.) and also had to cut entire scenes that I loved but that just weren't necessary. Good luck!

@GlenAdamsWriter It's a Yiddish word that's been adopted by English speakers. Pronounced like you spelled it, but spelled spiel. :)

When a salesman comes to the door and do their thing and pitches you on a potential purchase, I think of it as a 'spheel' but I can't decide if it's a real word and how to spell it. It is a word right? And how do you spell the darn thing? Synonyms don't convey what I want better.

@LeighHereNow Political organizer/campaign manager. I also homeschool my kids. Autumns of even-numbered years (like rn) I work 10-12 hour days 7 days per week and don't get any writing done at all. I miss it so much I ache. Looking forward to December!

@GlenAdamsWriter I think 'striding' has strong implications - I can see what they're doing and don't think their speed is in question. :)

If I’m writing that someone is striding away, do I have to qualify it with ‘quickly’, or is a quickened pace inherent in the word striding?

@itsjeanettechoe We've started flying an American flag again after years not doing it. But we didn't start again until we purchased an Equality flag, and always fly them both, always in accordance with the flag code.

@jessicarichter I've totally done that! I always laugh at myself but also feel kinda proud, like Hey last week me, you were clever with the words!

I'm rewriting a scene without looking at what I had before, come up with what I think is a clever way to describe what my character is feeling. "Ooh," I think. "This is good. So fresh!" Then I look back at my original version only to find the same exact description. HAH!
