It was an honor to speak with the great @newtgingrich about my book "41 George H.W. Bush & the End of the American Establishment." Nothing more wonderful for a US historian to converse with a man who has both made & seen history. Thank you Mr. Speaker! @BombardierBooks

@Bush41Library I just published my book "41: George H.W. Bush and the End of the American Establishment." The narrative discusses the values and experiences of President Bush and how he applied them to his years in the White House. Thanks to the @Bush41Library for all their help. Enjoy the book

That last ball from Judge was hit 107mph and was a HR in 6/30 parks. Would have tied the game. Next time someone tries to tell you Yankee Stadium is a little league park, you should laugh in their face. Just a really frustrating day when you’re playing a division rival, you get runners on base all night on top of great starting pitching and just have nothing to show for it at the end. The Yankees are doing too many things right to let this go on for too long. There are signs of life. But it sucks right now.
Rational Yankees Fan@rationalyankee

The Yankees have 11 hits, five of which have been extra base hits. They have two runs. That’s just a diabolical. That level of offensive output should produce more runs almost always does. Not tonight though.

I thought this already aired - so I consider this fantastic news. Doing this with the other hosts was a blast. Turns out, the “wind” in Gone With The Wind is a soft “i” like blowing wind, not a hard “i” like winding a clock.

Join us for two special evenings as our five TCM hosts share their "movie confessions" – revealing an essential film that has somehow escaped them all these years. It all starts tomorrow night with Alicia Malone and @davekarger at 8pm ET. Learn more: bit.ly/3PzrTBN

@rationalyankee All sports networks have gone this rout. ESPN is a prime example. There is to much content out there and everyone is trying to be as provocative as possible.

Fair question and honestly I don’t know. I’ve said a million times that I think it’s really cool that Jomboy Media was created basically out of nothing and now people have jobs in sports who otherwise might not. I don’t want them shut down. But I’m a diehard baseball fan and I don’t feel like I can engage with their content the way I used to. And that frustrates me because I used to really enjoy it. I get that they need to attract eyeballs to pay their people. Sometimes that means saying things you otherwise might not. I just think they’ve drifted way too far in that direction. I want them to make me listen again.
@poolsidejoee

@rationalyankee @trevorplouffe i just don’t get what ur ultimate angle is? have jomboy media shut down? in what world would you be satisfied with 100% of the coverage of ANY media company? weird to spend so much time on it

@rationalyankee Every time we have a cliff hanger like last night, I find myself reflecting on the amazing ability of Mariano Rivera. When he came into a game you knew - except for those rare occasions - it was over.

The Yankees bullpen can not function properly if David Bednar isn’t a lock down closer. Division opponent here. A team that’s given us fits for a while. He needs to lock it down.

@rationalyankee Yes, all correct. The bottom line is that we are spoiled from all the success we had in the past, granted we have not won a WS since 09. But George S's matra of the season is a failure if we don't win one makes it really tough. It is after all a long season.

I wouldn’t be surprised at all if this was a Yankees fan who did this. Nothing more typical of our fanbase than to root against their own team and then get to say “I told you so” at the end of the season. Winning the World Series is incredibly hard. Need to be hot at the right time and that time is not in May. That said, today sucked.
Kalshi Sports@KalshiSports

NEW: One Kalshi trader just put $2,905 on the New York Yankees to NOT win the World Series. If they’re correct, it would pay out $3,500 for a profit of $595.

@Mr_Husky1 I write about George H.W. Bush's qualities of kindness & humility as well as how he used the values and experiences he acquired throughout his life in my book "41: George H.W. Bush & the End of the American Establishment" out now!!!!
The Husky@Mr_Husky1

George Herbert Walker Bush had just lost the presidency to the man who defeated him in the 1992 election, and on the morning he walked out of the Oval Office for the very last time he sat down and did something so unexpectedly gracious that it changed the course of American history in the quietest way imaginable, leaving a handwritten note on the desk for Bill Clinton that read, in part, that Clinton's success would now be the country's success and that he was rooting hard for him, a gesture so stunning in its generosity that Hillary Clinton said it made her cry the first time she read it and again the moment she heard George Bush had passed away years later. That small act of decency planted a seed between two men separated by 22 years in age, a generation of political difference, and one of the most bruising campaign battles of the modern era, and what grew from it would eventually become one of the most beloved and talked-about friendships in American presidential history. The friendship did not truly bloom until President George W. Bush, the son of the man Clinton had defeated, asked both his father and Clinton to travel together to raise relief funds for the nations devastated by the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, and what happened on that overnight flight changed everything because Clinton, knowing that the elder Bush was already dealing with the early effects of Parkinson's disease, insisted that Bush take the only private bedroom on the plane and stayed close to his side throughout the trip, steadying him when needed, showing a tenderness that had nothing to do with politics and everything to do with genuine human care. Barbara Bush, who famously said she loved Bill Clinton even if not always his politics, called them the odd couple, and ABC News named them both its People of the Year in 2005 for their hurricane relief and tsunami work together. As the years went on and Bush's health declined, Clinton would find reasons to stop by and visit, and he always brought a small gift that spoke volumes about how well he knew his old friend: another pair of funny, colorful socks for Bush's beloved collection, including a pair printed with Clinton's own face, which Bush wore with visible delight. At the state funeral in Washington in 2018, Clinton sat in the front pew and wept openly, and when he later wrote about it he said simply that he just loved him, three words that carried the full weight of a friendship that had started with a handwritten note on a desk and ended with a broken heart in a cathedral pew.

@MichaelARothman I think President Eisenhower was an extraordinary man. Years ago I had a conversation with Secretary of State, George Schultz who had worked for IKE early in his career. He told me that the President knew everything about each agency in the executive branch. An amazing figure.

On August 1, 1960, President Dwight D. Eisenhower received a letter from a frustrated citizen named Leon Scott. Mr. Scott asked Eisenhower why he had a picture of Robert E. Lee in his office. This was Eisenhower's response to Mr. Scott: "Dear Dr. Scott, Respecting your August 1 inquiry calling attention to my often expressed admiration for General Robert E. Lee, I would say, first, that we need to understand that at the time of the War between the States, the issue of secession had remained unresolved for more than 70 years. Men of probity, character, public standing, and unquestioned loyalty, both North and South, had disagreed over this issue as a matter of principle from the day our Constitution was adopted. General Robert E. Lee was, in my estimation, one of the supremely gifted men produced by our Nation. He believed unswervingly in the Constitutional validity of his cause which, until 1865, was still an arguable question in America; he was a poised and inspiring leader, true to the high trust reposed in him by millions of his fellow citizens; he was thoughtful yet demanding of his officers and men, forbearing with captured enemies but ingenious, unrelenting, and personally courageous in battle, and never disheartened by a reverse or obstacle. Through all his many trials, he remained selfless almost to a fault and unfailing in his faith in God. Taken altogether, he was noble as a leader and as a man, and unsullied as read the pages of our history. From deep conviction, I simply say this: a nation of men of Lee's calibre would be unconquerable in spirit and soul. Indeed, to the degree that present-day American youth will strive to emulate his rare qualities, including his devotion to this land as revealed in his painstaking efforts to help heal the Nation's wounds once the bitter struggle was over, we, in our own time of danger in a divided world, will be strengthened and our love of freedom sustained. Such are the reasons that I proudly display the picture of this great American on my office wall. Sincerely, Dwight D. Eisenhower"

The Yankees are 10 games over .500 on May 11. There are a lot of teams who would switch places with the Yankees right now without blinking. It’s ok to be upset with the results. It’s not ok to use these results to make long term doomer conclusions about the team.

@rationalyankee talk some sense into Yankees fans hitting the panic button right now (yes I'm just as infuriated about Jazz and the bullpen).

The Contender is a movie you might not have heard of but you should have: this is as good of a political thriller as I can remember & no one I know has seen it. Jeff Bridges plays the President & earned an Oscar nomination. Gary Oldman is so good. Joan Allen crushes it. See this!
