Following public concerns, the City of Windhoek and KeyPlot Investments (KPI) have clarified that the old parking system was outdated, which led to the introduction of the digital payment system. The spokesperson of the City of Windhoek, Lydia Amutenya, stated that the municipality experienced challenges with old parking meters, including theft, vandalism, and people illegally collecting parking fees. She further adds that cash payments were, therefore, removed, and the municipality contracted KPI to introduce a safer and more modern digital parking system. The KPI Operations Manager, David Angula, emphasised that KPI offers customer support to help motorists with payments, account setups, and parking enquiries. Angula added that the former municipal parking system relied on cash-based meters, which were often vandalised and vulnerable to theft. He said that KPI subsequently implemented a smart city system, allowing for cashless digital payments via KPI cards, bank cards, and the KPI app. Additionally, the company has established satellite offices throughout the CBD to enhance service accessibility and convenience for the public. @purposetalks_ That selfishness transfers straight to the road. We won’t fix the roads until we fix the mindset.

We need tangible solutions to solve the issue of road accidents in Namibia. Perhaps, improve public transport services to reduce the use of personal vehicles, invest in the railway system or infrastructure. With the high influx of affordable imported vehicles, it will only get worse. The roads are small and cars are a lot furthermore, more surveillance a long the high risk areas to help with driver’s recklessness and irresponsible driving. The use of cellphones while driving?? A behavior that irritates me so much amongst our people. We are losing too many lives, too many for our small population. I am no expert in roads and transport matters but, our roads are sadly unsafe. The thought of traveling alone gives us anxiety. So much fear. We don’t know what is happening but, we need to figure it out before the whole country is empty. Who is even excited to travel by road these days? Absolutely no one.💔

@purposetalks_ Road safety slogans like “Save lives carefully” have been around since I was in grade 7, but little has changed. The real problem is our attitudes the same inconsiderate behaviour you see daily in shops, blocking aisles with trolleys while on calls, glaring when asked to move.

Never chase validation from influencers, for tomorrow they change that into criticism.
