It’s something the committee takes into account but isn’t a staple factor. Truth is most Bracketolgist had them as a high/Best 8. Almost 0 of them had them as a 7.

@llo181 @ryanhammer09 The MW doesn’t matter. They were a top 20’s Kenpom team, despite the weakness of the league. That should tell you something. They were a good team that was underseeded. Period. You aren’t going to convince anyone otherwise. Might as well call it a day on this one.

This is what I'm talking about. Utah State was NEVER a 9 seed??? Insane Got hosed by having to play against Arizona in R32. Resume was strong & they were ALWAYS better than where they got seeded.

@here_ride46686 @ryanhammer09 This is one of the very few seasons the MW was bad. All because Utah state ran through the Conference doesn’t mean they deserved a great seed. A high 8 was what they were supposed to be. Miami, St Mary’s,Kentucky,UCLA were all objectively better

@llo181 @ryanhammer09 Disagree. They were analytically in the 6-7 range. Poor seeding decision cost a pretty damn good team a chance at a deeper run. And I’m no Utah State fan.

@boilermakerkev @ryanhammer09 It’s more the Mid Majors tournaments, like in my opinion, you give a team like Belmont or Liberty an auto semi and they go onto the tournament, they probably win a game or 2. The portal I only have a problem with when it comes to Inner conferences transfers.

Everyone will point to "NIL has ruined March" & "Chalk Madness" after the first round. I think its partially true if told properly but its not that simple. BAD: B2B years of no 13+ seeds winning a game, 13 of 32 games decided by 20+ (most ever), Friday first day in R64 history with no double digit seed winning (Santa Clara though lol) Did have non powers win - High Point (12), VCU (11), SLU (9), Utah State (9). So what if they go on insane runs? The issue though is all 4 of those teams are the elite of mid major ball. Big NIL budgets, known great programs. Now yes, first time ever with B2B years no 13+ seeds winning. Other years: 2004, 2007, 2017, 2025. It DOES happen... But what about Furman & Siena, Wright State & Hofstra in their games? The games have been objectively better than last year. Santa Clara/UK, VCU/UNC, Furman/UConn, High Point/Wisco. AND we have Texas, Texas A&M, UCLA, Miami want to make "dark horse" runs. So is mid major Cinderella dead? Not entirely its been 2 years of more chalk that HAS happened in the past. But the standard for a mid major team winning in March might have increased bc of NIL investment & the portal and I don't love that for the majority of teams in the sport. Let's talk after R32 is over. Hopefully it gives us fun today & tomorrow!

@cbresnock @CBKReport Both should have been 14 seeds, Siena should have been a 15,UMBC should have been a 15 seed, North Dakota State and Wright State should have been 15 seeds, Tennessee St should have been in First Four, they screwed up 13-16 Bad.

@CBKReport Should’ve been a 14 over Penn at the very least, but I don’t think it would’ve been much different a result. But splitting hairs really down the 12-16’s. I think it would’ve helped at least make those matchups be more in touch to create some drama though.

Shoutout the Furman Paladins. So clearly better quality than a 15 seed. Fought hard & played so well vs the elite of CBB. Tarris Reed was simply too much of a monster - outrebounded Furman as a team on his own 27 > 23. Respect to the Dins. UConn vs UCLA on Sunday🍿
