im not a big fan of this thinking, yes, being gyaru is about being yourself, rebellious, sexy and pretty. but everything we do at someway is political, being rebellious especially

gyaru became gyaru bc they thought it was cool and rebellious. not to scare off men, tons of men became gyaruo to talk to gals and many gal magazines talked about sex gyaru isn’t rooted in any political movement like punk. when it gets down to it, i like being gal bc i look good

Another film reference in 90's lolita! Jane Marple released a collection in 1992 called "Musical Clothes" themed around the whimsical female leads of vintage musicals and romcoms, specifically Audrey Hepburn in "How to Steal a Million" (1966) and Twiggy in "The Boy Friend" (1971)
