The hate is right there in the books, in the teachings. You literally can’t separate it from the respective religions. Moderates choose to ignore half of what does books say because they recognize today they can’t act so freely upon those words anymore but they’re still being preached. It’s fine to “not really agree”, but there’s no colder and harder fact than religion serving no purpose other than to keep an iron grip on its followers.

I don’t really agree. If religion disappeared overnight, I don’t think humanity would suddenly become more peaceful or understanding. People have always found other things to divide over like politics, nationalism, race, ideology, class, and countless other identities. The desire to organize around a shared belief, and sometimes to use that belief for power, doesn’t disappear just because religion does

The same shit you see with Islam in that it’s nothing more than a medium to control the population in the stead of actual law, leaning heavily towards the role of women at that, you see in Christianity as well. Has the west done a better job separating it from the state? Absolutely. Do they still chant litanies of hate against gay people? Absolutely. The examples are numerous. If you would take out religion as a whole from people’s lives instantly there would be so much more peace and understanding on this planet.
